Both are equally good for location but I prefer the Victory for its more historic setting on Shamian Island.

I’ve stayed at Victory and it’s a walk from the train station, though it’s really good value for money and my stay was pleasant

Hi bros, thanks for the reply.

Is victory very far away from shopping district such as 上下九 and Beijing Road?

On top of that, I'm traveling with my parents as well. Wouldn't wanna bore them with all the shoppings . Is the hotel a strategic location to places like Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, Canton Tower, pearl river etc?

From google map, it seems like its a pretty far distance away.

Once again, thanks bros for your reply. Sincerely appreciate it.

You cannot expect to be walking to every of those places. The Victory is very close to the Pearl River. The other choice is at 上下九. You need a taxi or the MRT to get to places. Shamian island is like the French Concession in Shanghai. More greenery and interesting colonial architecture.

Is Shamian island a interesting place to stay for a while? Have not visit the place yet. The rest of Guangzhou is very noisy

Actually if travel with older folks, its better to didi here and there as they may not be accustom to walking like the locals. So a nice and quiet place may be better.

But if conveniences is really in your top list then try to find a hotel around Beijing Rd(cater to all budget and needs). At least there are malls, street shops, mrt, even city tour bus is there. Will never get bored at that area but very crowded

It is noisy and crowded everywhere in Guangzhou. At least Shamian island gives a respite with leafy boulevards, less vehicles and pleasing architecture. People actually have their wedding photos taken here. The cathedral area can get quite crowded though during worship hours.

Something I missed from previous visits. The Victory is within walking distance to 1) Huangsha Pier, 2) Huangsha Station

1) Huangsha Pier has Pearl River cruise routes to Canton Tower as well as water taxi services to other parts of Guangzhou. A pleasant way to travel, instead of taxi or metro.
2) Huangsha Station sits below the massive Metropolitan Plaza mall. It is an interchange of Lines 1 and 6 of the MRT. Very useful. Line 1 serves Chen Family Clan, Guangzhou East Station and 上下九. Line 6 serves Beijing Lu.
