MSI Big Bng X-Power problem

Recently my desktop running on the BB X-Power has been restarting itself completely randomly. Sometimes it can run for hours without a problem, sometimes it will suddenly reboot by itself within a few minutes of usage.

Additionally, the amount of RAM reported changes every time I boot up. I have 3x2GB sticks, Windows 7 will report either 2, 4 or 6 GB and this value apparently changes every time. I can feel the difference when it only sees 2GB because I run some resource-intensive applications.

Sometimes Windows 7 will be stuck in a reboot loop as well, even on fresh installs.

Kindly assist. Though, I already suspect that its a motherboard issue. I have already changed PSUs, graphic cards and RAM sticks. It's under warranty with receipt.

put all your ram into mainboard.

1. enter bios
2. default setting for bios
3. now set back your own setting
4. save & exit
5. enter windows
6. check ram display correct?

I ran a 2 hour test with Memtest86, and the test reported no errors.

Default bios settings didn't help; they've always been on default settings. Despite this being an overclock board, I've never overclocked.

Anyway, the random restarts and hangs still persist.

There hasn't been a bios update since that one from March 2011, so its already on the latest version.

Also, I don't really have much time to do tests anymore... I'll just have to turn it in for RMA.

Sure, if you are not able to test,
you can bring the mainboard down and and let our tech guys check for you.

Anyway, you can see a symptom below... Motherboard sees 6 GB, but OS sees only 4. I have swapped RAM around, they all have this problem.

For ram detection, its pretty common with Intel X58 chipsets all across the board.
Re-sitting the CPU usually solves it.
When re-sitting the CPU, check if there are any bent pins.
Make sure you do not over tighten the cooler as well.
Swap the rams one by one around too.
Should be fine after that.
