CardUp (Do not post or ask for referral code)

Surprised to see no dedicated thread for cardup.

Let's discuss the best way to make use of cardup.

In my case specially I pay rent of $1800 a month. So the cardup fee is 2.6% and I am thinking of using UOB One 5% rebate for transactions above $2000 a month. So I could earn around $50 a month. Any other ways to make better use of cardup?

Do you need a NOA to pay tax on Cardup? IRAS won't prioritise sending me the NOA, so wondering if I can pay before I receive it.

DBS live fresh no longer give 5% for cardup. my April transaction was not awarded 5%. I appeal to the bank and they refuse to give. they ask for proof of transaction and when i show it they saw that it was for insurance payment, they say NO. in May they change their T&C to exclude cardup from 5%

You provide cardup your tax reference which is your IC and the money goes into your account with IRAS. I have my NOA and it all worked fine so can't really speak to your situation, but I would guess IRAS just adds it to your account...

I mean, do you need to provide a copy of NOA to Cardup?

No. It works like eAXS if you ever used that.

I am not really a miles person. I just did some calculations, even for SQ to London, it costs $1200 return ticket. If you use miles, you still have to pay $700 in cash and rest some 59K miles. That is not worth it in my opinion. Earning 59K miles means spending some 15K. At 2.6% fee, I will spend $390. So total I still spend some $1100, might as well buy the ticket for $1200.

I think miles only make sense for business class traveller. I am more of a budget airline person.

So I guess UOB One 5% rebate is the best bet for me? Since even 10X points means yield of about 3% I think if I redeem it for vouchers?

Thanks. To earn 76000 miles, I need to spend $19000 and it will cost me $494. So spending $494 saves me some $1000 on the ticket. But spending 19000 on the UOB One card gives me 5% rebate which is $900.

So still it appears miles makes sense only for business class.

but isnt the purpose of CARDUP is to let you pay things normally you couldn't pay with your credit card. say if you want to pay rent, you simply cannot use UOB ONE to get rebate.
