credit card usage for wedding

Hey guys,

Is it possible to pay off my balance and reset the credit limit before the statement bill.. and is the reset instantaneous ?

I have trying to figure out how to pay my full wedding cost using 1 card.. Unfortunately, my wedding cost exceeds my credit limit and I only have 2 weeks left.

I do have the full amount to cover my wedding cost but I want to pay through my CC for the points.

So, I am wondering if I could split my wedding bill into 3 parts ( pay on 3 consecutive days while each day settling the balance with the bank)

e.g. Wedding cost 30k,if I manage to split 10k x 3 days.

1 day: use CC to cover 10k with the wedding banquet, settle with bank, reset limit.
Repeat day 2 and day 3.

is this even possible?

1. You can pay before the statement date.
2. You can prepay to increase your credit limit.

For example, if your credit limit is 20K, you can prepay 5K to increase the credit limit to 25K.

you can also ask for a Temporary Credit Limit increase .. Wedding expenses shld be one of the eligible reasons ... 10K to 30k temp increase seems reasonable

no harm asking for it ... it is a temp increase after all ...

tell them nicely u want to use DBS CC for all of the wedding expenses ... if no increase, then you will have to use other Bank's CC

Just prefund your credit card by paying it earlier (like the earlier post mentioned) . Problem solved .

But if the amount is huge , i think your problem is more on maximizing your rewards.
I believe the best card in the market for this is SCB unlimited cashback tandem with $100K capital to earn 5% rebate. Problem is that you need big capital to use this tandem.

Try nego with the hotel. Split the entire bill into 3 payment windows.

1st window: Deposit
2nd window: 1 month prior to actual day
3rd window: 1 day after actual day

I maximize my cards' cashback through these 3 windows.

PS: I don't remember any hotels that requested for 100% payment at one shot. Strange~~~
