Dont commit to those crazy % cashback schemes with EZLink and NETS FP, they are usually come and go (and typically without warning).

Stick to what is working (i.e. Cards with modest EZ-link, NETS FP incentives).

personally i have no preference. i just find the 0.25cents top up fee to be ridiculous for whatever reasons they wanna justify.

in thailand, you can walk up to any mrt stations and top up your stored value card with zero $0 top up fees. this applies to cash, local or even foreign issued credit cards!!! in fact, you even get reward points for topping up/using the travel card.

here in sg, we preload a sum of money in to our ezlink cards, and they have the cheeks to ask for service charge!!! we should demand interest from them instead.

i really don't understand how things work. it is a service provided to benefit them and the consumer but the latter has to bear the cost of this service?
If you do not understand, then you pretty much need to ask them. If too many people starts to use a service, the service will become unsustainable and merchant has to charge from somewhere in order to keep it running. Imagine how many sinkies do auto-topups, how can EZ-Link even start to claim from VISA/MASTER/ETC. I do feel that most of the charges are non-negotiable because of the structure of Payment Cards and their policies. If possible, I take cash too.

These little little games, such as this $5 Flashpay cashback, 10% Dashback, $50 Paypass, 10c per payment, etc, are very fun to play. They never fail to keep the mind agile.
