Actually this is a very good card, you can throw all kind of ‘dirty’ transaction that are not counted for eligible category for other cards, for example insurance premium, to this card. You got 1.5 rebates!!!!!

Excellent card. Was in Japan for 2 weeks and there are a whole lot of miscellaneous stuff this card can pay for and I think the exchange rates are wee better than most other cards I used while in Japan.

However, my payment due date is 25th Dec but on 18th Dec, my dbs already has giro deduction. That’s a full week earlier. This happens to be my first payment since I only have this card a little more than a month ago. Does anyone have same experience of early payment/ deduction?

wow.. that's a lot earlier.. I don't recall other credit cards being that early. Ok, need to take note to top up account next time a week earlier to avoid unsuccessful deduction.

Nonetheless, I called up their CSO, who found it strange as well. And he is checking with management and will revert later.

December 25 is Christmas, a national holiday, and falls on a Monday this year (2017). So the last business day before your due date is Friday, December 22. Thus the GIRO deduction is only 4 days "early." That's a little early, perhaps -- 2 days seems about right -- but it's not unreasonable.

Just checked - GIRO deduction usually is on the 16th even thoufh due date is on the 25th. The only reason it was 18th this month is because 16th was a Saturday.

Ok, CSO called me up regarding my enquiry (see earlier post). And confirmed that ICBC deducts on 15th of the month even though the payment due date is 25th. This is to" be able to warn customer, if first deduction failed, to top up b4 actual date". Not a very good reason imho, but anyway, the pros of this card easily outweigh this payment date thingy.

I used BOC, Everyday, CIMB master in japan.
