Smic also need to abide by US restriction. It only has low end 7nm capability and capacity.

LOL! SMIC is a hopeless Chinese semicon venture - it does not have proper equipment to make 7nm node efficiently, which is already > 3 years old tech. The best it can do is mass produce last gen 14nm which Huawei Kirin 710A is based on for the Honor series smartphone.

Huawei is going to die a lonely death as the rest of the world advance to 6G!

Let the facts speak for themselves instead of being emotional TSMC is already in 2nm. Chipset is not a child play. It is almost impossible for China to catch up if US stopped the transfer of technology

The bigger question is will TSMC able to have zero Chinese customer and replace with more American buyers... while the Chinese continue to pump billions into its own semicon R&D.

Does that mean TSMC will ultimately come under the whim and wants of US law and order ? If like that, what's the point of Taiwan being a member of WTO ?

of course TSMC is in good company. AMD uses them. Apple uses them.

The original 710 was manufactured on tsmc 12nm process. Performance comparison chart of how it stand against other cpu. Nikei news reported the smic 14nm yield is very low.

Game over for hisilicone for now lah. All foundries use Americut technology atm. Trumpard rules the suppliers to Huawei should only contain 0 Americut technology. The machines used for fabricating 10nm/7nm chips surely contain more or less us technology.

Only when China develops its own such machinery for chip fabrication, which China is doing, Hisilicone will be able to revive again. But then yanks will lose their last stronghold and China will dominate the whole value chain by then

Not sure what "low yield" means when HMIC seems to be able to keep up with Huawei's order. Details already explained in Huawei's official statement why it was forced to "sideline" TSMC-made chips.

Also aside from the different chip maker and tech, does the user experience any difference with Honor series with HMIC's 14nm? We are entering Interesting time with more options and variety for consumers.

if huawei lose out there will be other companies to take their share n give the biz back to tsmc; they've got nothing to lose

Oh? Since you mentioned the mate40, perhaps it is a good time for TSMC to hire expensive lawyers to squeeze argument against he US law which forbids them from doing business with Huawei...Let's see what the US law says:

But does that mean the 2nd largest phone maker will die a final death without TSMC supply to the mate40? haha ?
