Finally got my offer today after calling up MOE for the progress of my application.
So, do take the initiative to follow up. Sometimes, there may be pending information that will affect the processing of your application.

Sharing some tips from my experience
1. For interview:
- Ethical essay (20 mins): Keep an open mind (not make assumptions) & focus on the wellbeing of students as the reason for action. Attend early as it can be quite rush.
- Presentation (5 mins): Teach 1 thing based on MOE syllabus and keep it engaging. There will be disruption, be patient and manage the class.
- General interview: Refer to Glassdoor

2. For EL EPT (if applicable)
Practice using O Levels Exam Paper Syallbus 1128 Section B situational writing. Time management is critical. Questions seem to be based on recent general knowledge.
It should include at least 1 opposing opinion.

3. Music Audition (if applicable)
5 mins performance using 1-2 instruments of your choice, followed by sight-sing & sight-play a whole page of notes and lastly harmonisation.
Interview questions include: why you want to teach music, why you chose the music pieces, tell me about yourselves, and why not teach secondary level etc.

Lastly, if you need reassurance, it does help to follow up with MOE and even NIE (if relating to music audition). Do not worry about bothering them as it is your right.
* For MOE, you can either:
1. Email them at MOE[underscore]RU @ moe.gov.sg (remove spaces)
2. Call the MOE hotline up (68722220 - press 3 for Recruitment, and 0 to get to a customer service executive)
* For NIE Music Audition:
You can call Ms Lam Fair Lee (67903557)

All the best and I hope it will help someone out there.

Hi, you can refer to MOE website for the requirements for application. Also, when you are applying, there is a description on the application criteria. Hope this helps :) . Just have to perservere and never give up in applying if you are really passionate about teaching.

Get teaching experience i.e. teaching for self help groups, relief teaching etc. These experiences would be beneficial especially when you are doing the teaching component during the interview ( more confident, can better manage the interviewers' antics etc etc as you draw from your own experience of teaching) .

Most of us don't have the right answer here, we aren't from the MOE Recruitment. I know of FCH Masters graduate getting rejected

@Xiaosemoahs Thanks! Wished I knew to call MOE earlier.

Agree with Mantoyak. I'm also from the healthcare industry. My teaching experience includes volunteering with Student Care Center through giving.sg and teaching with JA Singapore. Quote HR: "To teach, you will need strong content knowledge in the subjects you wish to teach, a keen interest in teaching, good personal attributes and values, good communication skills and the ability to relate to the young."

Noted the next Teaching Info Session by MOE available for those interested to teach:
- General Primary teaching 11th Jan 2020 (this Sat)
https://www.form.gov.sg/#!/5c0799e4c15ba10017bf1498
There will be a few HOD and HR sharing with Q&As.
Best wishes.

whats fch ><

Similar to Nnameless, I do also have fch friends who were being rejected. So it really depends. Generally the hiring process these days are slowing down due to the merger of schools and much lesser students, they are probably focusing on replacement of retired teachers.

here. status shortlisted. didnt receive anything about medical check up.
I emailed MOE HR. reply is that if we were offered, our starting date for untrained teaching is most likely 22 June 2020.

Any other PGDE PE folks with any updates?

Oh I see, we are on the same boat. My friend was asked to go for medical examination in late Nov so he has been offered to do contract teaching in Feb. As such, we can only wait for further updates from MOE HR.

Got my medical examination email on 31 Dec, I guess those like us that didnt get offered for Feb one would be pushed to June one in competition with other candidates. Probably be receiving medical email during these coming months.

So for future applicants, best time to apply is January and June because there is 2 period for MOE to offer a teaching position

Hi all! I just received an email from MOE today stating that I need to be assessed by an english language specialist. Anyone experiencing the same situation? Or anyone know why there's a need for such assessment?

Hi,

WTA if there have been any social science grads who succesfully applied to teach at MOE? I'm considering taking social science degree then teach english/gp/social studies

Is this a viable path?
