Does anyone here know how the terms work in SUSS? I understand there is a Jan an July semester. In the program timetable, I see like [Jan Wed Term 1 Week 1] and [Jan Thurs Term 2 Week 1]. Does [Jan Term 2 Week 1] means like April? Like the 2nd Term of the Semester.

Using the below as an example, can someone help me to understand this better.
  • JAN WED TERM 1 WEEK 1
  • JAN THURS TERM 2 WEEK 1
  • JAN THURS TERM 2 WEEK 2

Thanks!

So you are right, there are 2 terms in 1 semester. Every term lasts 7 weeks.
Basically, the academic calendar repeats every semester.
Term 1 - 7 weeks
Term 2 - 7 weeks
Followed by 2 weeks of revision
Ending with 2 weeks of exams.

Let me know if you need a detailed illustration.

Thanks for the explanation! I am considering to study at SUSS so this helped me alot. So to put the sems and terms into perspective, assuming classes start on the 21th Jan 2019 (stated online)

SEM 1 (JAN)

TERM 1 21th Jan - 8th March (7 weeks)
TERM 2 11th March - 26th April (7 weeks)
Revision 29th April - 10th May (2 weeks)
Exams 13th May - 24th May (2 weeks)

SEM 2 (JULY)

TERM 1 22th July - 6th Sep (7 weeks)
TERM 2 8th Sep - 25th Oct (7 weeks)
Revision 27th Oct - 8th Nov (2 weeks)
Exams 10th Nov - 22th Nov (2 weeks)

I hope this is correct based on your explanation

Thanks for clarifying this! So then the WEEK 1 and WEEK 2 stated on the module's timetable, that reflects the examination dates right? So if a module state that it is TERM 1 WEEK 2, that would mean that the exams would be on the 2nd week(2nd half) of the examination period correct?

for exams week, u refer to term as week. so term 1 =1ST HALF of exam period, TERM 2 = 2ND HALF of exam period..

Isit hard to cope doing part time studies with full time job?
whether you choose to study with a full time job or not, the most important thing to remember is don't ever, ever, ever leave your assignments/ECA/GBA/quiz/exam revision to the last minute. just don't. the stress, (possible tears) and anxiety is not worth it, please take it from me. just take on each assignment task or GBA/ECA consistently and start as early as you can, and you'll find that while you will face difficulties in each one, knowing that you still have that bit of time and that you didn't start late will help you cope better. it will be tough to not procrastinate, and you'll sometimes have to forgo your social life but just don't leave anything to last min

Hi, so what if the module says TERM 2 WEEK 1? If according to what you say that would mean TERM 2 = 2nd half of exam period. Then what would the WEEK 1 represent?
