Get another person to keep a lookout for you lo
I won't be leaving the camera, is the stabalizing it. Will hook the camera to my body at all times.

I mean if you are concerned about safety, have another person act as a lookout while you set up for the shot.

If you don't want to use a tripod, I think you are only left with gorilla pod, which is lacking in height and maybe even strength if you are mounting pro level dslr, or use a clamp. You might not have place or may not be allowed to clamp as well.

I'm bringing along a pineapple without grip + UWA + filters. Avoiding looking pro, and not bringing my durian along for this trip.

Nope going with some friends, but they will be too busy sightseeing than taking pictures, so don't depend on them to lookout for me, and I've a trusty Ixus to pass people to help us take pic if need be.

Slik also got a few..But dunno max load..Should be more stable i guess..

The image can be corrected down to the pixel level. So I guess anything is possible
