During charging there are red light indicator..

Once full charge, the red light will go off.... thus the icon change from lightning to cable plug symbol (that one is not USB symbol)

What is puzzling is the screen should be off.... did you set the screen to Always On ?
It will drain the battery very fast.

I was monitoring it the whole time yesterday. The battery was not full yet but it was still charging when the cable plug icon appeared and its not 100% yet. And yes I think my display is set to always on. Will change it

It should be fully charged and on standby mode....
If battery juice drop to 95~98%, it will auto charge up again (meaning lightning icon and red light should come on again).

Take note a fully charged battery starts to drain very slowly even though you are not using the GoPro cam... reason could be some features are turn on at standby ready mode (eg. remote voice command, Bluetooth etc.)

Mine is GoPro 6 and itís is behaving like that....

I disabled those bluetooth, voice command features.
If not using the gopro, remove the battery.
Before use, charge the battery fully, plug the gopro to computer for it to auto update the date/time (or you update it manually).

you can just google and see if the 7 White features are good enough for your usage? Eg. do you need gps? do you need 4k video? do you want the HyperSmooth Stabilization? do you mind built-in battery?

COMPARING THE NEW GOPRO HERO7 BLACK, SILVER AND WHITE CAMERAS

Those looking for action cam.... better hold your horse....

Today will have announcement for Insta360 ....

From leaks... iit stabilisation seemed better that GoPro 7

Itís a 360deg action cam.... so itís more like GoPro Fusion but cheaper.

Lucky me, I nearly went ahead my purchase on the Fusion, now shall await and see

i think 360 videos hasnt really taken off so the same goes for gopro fusion.
expensive,
cumbersome to edit (too much power required to as well)
videographer doesnt want to be in the video

The One X is cheaper than Hero 7. Does almost the same thing and more. Can do hyperlapse, slow mo, stabilisation looks pretty good. Can edit using the phone app.

Unfortunately not for Singapore.... everything mark up very high

Now local price comparison as of to-date:
GoPro Hero7 Black - $595/-
One X - $698/- (pre-order)

But One X should compare directly with GoPro Fusion
One X - $698 (pre-order price)
GoPro Fusion - $899/-

Yes, agree with you the amount of time and ease of editing video for 360 have somewhat improved considerably and can easily done on mobile app.

Planning to get GoPro Hero 7 Black soon.. This will be my first GoPro camera. Would love some advice on what are the essential accessories to get other than a spare battery/memory card, etc. Thanks in advance!
