opeh leaf delights is another relatively new stall. didnt expect much from them when we first tried their food and we were quite stunned when they whipped up quite a delish plate of $5 鸳鸯 cai tao kueh. plenty of cai poh (preserved radish) & eggs in their white ctk manz!!

chloe thinks that their white ctk tastes better because their darker version came out slightly overdone. altho nice, methinks their ctk here is still one notch below the more popular ones like bukit merah because they dont make their carrot cake in-house.

btw, only the ctk is good at this stall. their hokkien mee is just ok (no fight with abc mucket yisheng) & chloe thought their orh luak really cmi, haha!
one thing i noticed about maxwell mucket is that even though there may be few stalls selling the same local favourites, none of them are able to cook it to prevailing industry standards. seems like competition didnt help bring out the best in these hawkers. hokkien mee & orh luak are the best examples.

there are at least 4 maxwell stalls peddling hokkien mee on their menus at present. previously mentioned that opeh leaf serves quite a mean plate of 鸳鸯 cai tao kueh. however, their hokkien mee came out too wet and tasted too ordinary. the stock used for their gravy clearly lacked flavour. their chili is nice though. but with only one and half prawns for a $4 plate, they can certainly do better.

imho the dubious distinction of the worst hokkien mee at maxwell had to go to marina south delicious food. the only saving grace is the sambal chili. just look at the prawns... translucent in colour because itís been pre-cooked well beforehand and frozen for god knows how long before frying it into the hokkien mee for customers. the gravy is way too salty with a discernible msg taste.

how come no one mentioned the hum jin paeng ah?
another long time stallholder at maxwell. 6 pcs for just one buck.
this has gotta be the hawker deal of the millennium manz!
got sweet red bean & salty 5-spice flavour.
really is cheap & good. tastes yummy too!
customers can even do the frying themselves.
recently i noticed a lot of giam kanna ceca types invading the stall.
sibeh sianz manz.

who knows their operating hours? never see this stall before when I visit on weekends
