Question [help!!] Preferred name at work

Hi all

I am filling out a form required by my new company. They requested for my preferred name. Although I have a legal English name, for some personal reason, I don't feel like using it as I grow older.

I have also changed my Chinese name, although not legally. Therefore I'm not supposed to be called by my Chinese name as it is 'bad' for me.

Is it possible for me to use another English name as my preferred name? Will there be any future complications as I am starting a career in a professional service line.

Hope to hear all your inputs.
Thank you!!

Just use a easy to remember English name like John, Marcus, Steven, Raymond, Jonathan, Gary etc.
As I might to sign under my name in legal documents in my career in the future, would it be alright if my preferred name known by everyone in the client office and my company be different from my legal name?

That's why I am very conflicted now. I would prefer to use an English name as it is easier to be called. My legal English name is very childish and not suitable as one grows older.

I understand it is a given name by my parents, but I have my difficulties as I would not be viewed with respect with my given name.

Thanks for your help, but I am not looking for suggestion of names. Instead I am unsure whether it is acceptable to use a different English name from my legal one for a professional career..

Why not?

How formal is it? Just say it's your middle name/christian name/nickname you preferred to be called.

Is your name going to be printed out on a nameplate or something?
