I went Japan. Roaming is free. Pay per use but not cheap. I only need the free incoming SMS for ibanking. So good enough.

Last time with SingTel still need to sub 5$ per month Iirc.
PAYR service basically allows your plan to connect to a roaming Telco when you are overseas and will not incur any charges if it's just for receiving SMS. however, if you do use chargeable roaming services like roaming data, outgoing roaming SMS, or in/outgoing roaming calls, then such charges will incur and additional 25% fee..

the other option was the monthly autoroaming services that was once chargeable at usually $10/mth regardless if you travel overseas or not, but if you do incur and roaming charges, the rates will be charged as per what the Telco published, without the extra 25% premium.

but most if not all telcos have done away with this charge and is now providing it for free after Starhub recently made changes to provide caller id and autoroaming as free services for all their plans.

autoroam @ $10 per month only worth it if the user consistently every month use more than $40 overseas

Highly doubtful...i tried during their routine roadshow....only promo for their $20/ mth plan..they dun even bother to offer u the flexi $0/mth...they r not gaining anything anyway, so why wud they waive the registration fee for the $0/ mth plan?

Ya, for people who seldom go overseas which account for the majority. I think $0 subscription fee works best.

I was in Japan and I was using the Mifi.
if I really want to contact someone, will use the whatsapp.
If people urgently need to contact me or I need to use SMS authentication for some reason, it can be done. Sufficient liao.

To be honest if I really need to call others alot, Iirc can use Skype.

Not sure the $0 plan has the free auto roam function though, users can check from their app.

I have my circles life for a long time, at the same time holding on to a uno plan

Last week I realized I can port over my uno number to my CL plan and continue paying 0 bucks!

It's good...now I save 8 bucks a month.... Not fated to use MR due to the many problems with roaming I've shared on other discussions

Oh, then you definitely won't face roaming issue with $0 flexi plan because it's not available for flexi plan. Not even if you wanna pay for it.
