Lee Hsien Loong was born in 1952.

Enlisted in SAF as a Recruit in 1971.

Disrupted his OCS training and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 1971.

Went to Cambridge on a President's Scholarship and graduated in 1974. Returned to SAF as a Lieutenant.

He was then promoted to Brigadier General in 1983 (he also disrupted to do a Masters degree at Harvard in 1980).

Basically he served 8 years of active service in the SAF, in which time he was promoted from Lieutenant to BG (that's six ranks).

The ranks of CPT to COL all have two grades each. Meaning that he was promoted NINE times in eight years.

Truly a military legend - I can't think of a General with a record this stellar. Patton, Pershing, Mountbatten, McArthur and Powell are all left trailing in his wake.
more than 6 ranks actually, captain rank and above has more than 2 tiers. Forget what the term for it

This is why all the nations in the world don't dare to be openly hostile towards Singapore. They know BG Lee will crush any nations armed forces into cinders with his dragonborn abilities.

8 years of service to get to the rank of Brigadier General.

which significant war did this hero fought in that propelled him to BG in such short period?

his war achievement must be jin sat ki, enough to be considered a military legend.

really proud to have such a legend leading Singapore.
Maybe in the days of ancient China, people became "General" by valiantly fighting wars, and after they'd won the war, they became Emperor.

Today, do we still fight wars that way?

Or do we use brains, with modern warfare technology?

Which btw is why there is no reason why chabors cannot do National Service while our supply of army boys shrink from cohort to cohort due to the low TFR.

Brilliant. We should mandate IQ test for all children at the age of 10 and henceforth promote those with high IQ to generals!

Back in the day our armed forces are small. Education of citizen is only beginning to start (O Lvls can be big shot officer already). In real need of commanders to lead and bring up the forces.

LHL is considered very highly educated person and he was a signed on regular. You don't give your own Cambridge scholar the stars then you give who? The Ah Neh RSM who can only run around giving extra duties and confinement meh?

LHL and his siblings are born lucky. sometimes, this kind of things, cannot see too serious one. some people just luckier than most people lor. what to do....
