My common toilet uses floating quartz. The front profile is 6cm long so it hides the metal bracket. The contractor drilled 2 metal bars straight into the wall to support the quartz. No wood used at all.

Quartz also less prone to mouldy?

Hmm. Can't comment yet cause the house still renovating but I guess it's how dry you keep the toilet. I installed exhaust fans in the toilet to help with the drying/humidity after showers. Hopefully it helps

Just realised there are plenty of laminate companies like panaplast, lam chuan, admira, aica, etc. Some specialises in JP laminates. Any feedback on them?

Thanks!

For laminates, do you ask your carpenter or ID to finish the edges smoothly or make it "round" so that its not too sharp? I am not sure if there's a technical/industry term for this. Usually when you rest your arms in food courts, some edges are too sharp.

Good point... I would go sleuth in ikea or wherever with the actual required outcome, then take picture to point out what is the outcome the contractor need to achieve and where. (Laminate kitchen countertop? Cabinet door edge? Corner or along the side? Etc .)

You definitely cannot finish redoing a kitchen in 3 weeks. If u or your family are staying there, spend some time and do it well. You'll have more headache down the road when things start breaking apart if the work is shabby
