For Singaporeans to see a change in the government, I say there’s nothing short of a rebellion and it looks like the younger generation will pull it off.

That's why EDMW is full of trolls. Can you come out with better housing policy?

I cannot. That's why I keep my mouth shut.

All you all can do is what the oppositions are good at, point out mistakes but offer zero alternative
Leasehold is the way forward.

However by definition it have to depreciate over time. The early years maybe can get a little. However the less of the lease left the less value it becomes.
Its the land that has value not tje bricks

Where got until 99 years one? I think most flats before 70 years old will kena en bloc like lorong ah soo liao.
Maybe you need to read this:

"Only around 5% of flats are suitable for SERS, according to HDB estimates. “Many projects with high redevelopment potential have already been done because HDB chose the promising ones and did them first,” explains Lee."

"VERS should start with HDB flats that are at least 70 years old"

"Residents whose flats are taken back early under VERS will be compensated, and the government will help them get a new flat to live in. “But their terms will be less generous than those under SERS because there’s less financial upside"

Link: https://sg.finance.yahoo.com/news/ve...054500155.html

Someone that day did a rough calculation and puzzled that the VERS payout could be much much lesser than if it is sold in the open market ....

So you may think, then well, I can sell in the open market like her:

[ quote ]
HDB homeowner Mrs Tay agrees. “I don’t think VERS is very relevant to my husband and me because it will take 20 years before the scheme is implemented,” she says. “If I choose to sell my flat at that time, I’m likely to sell it on the open market and move in with one of my children. I don’t need the government to provide me with another house or a smaller flat.” She adds that she will consider VERS only if the compensation is better than what her property could fetch on the open market.
[ end quote ]

But you have to think again, who in the open market wants to buy from you then with say the flat is more than 70 years old?

No, you are beating about the bush. I am a WP supporter but I don't anyhow hoot policies without some sensible self-reasoning.

Rent is rent. You rent your student hostel in the university, every month paying $750. You don't own it.

You buy the HDB means you own it already. Why would anyone want to stay until 99 years are up? Basically even if you want, you can't, because you are not so long life. I ask you, if you buy resale when you are 35 (after marrying your chiobu wife), let's say the flat is ten years old, at most you can only live there for 60 years (unless you have eaten 长身不老药), so then the flat will be 10+60=70 years old only. So what happens next? You pass your flat to your children, right? Do you think they will keep it? They have their own flat/house liao mah right? They will probably sell it off during redevelopment and split the money and keep the money for your grandchildren!

Where got until 99 years one? I think most flats before 70 years old will kena en bloc like lorong ah soo liao.

I think you are a liar. There is no way you can buy a HDB in Singapore. you are spreading fake news.

one can only sign an agreement to lease with HDB. Nobody can buy land ownership from HDB.

Don't be naive. When you buy a condo, you think your condo value will go up and up forever? Why not go to Katong/Joo Chiat and look at the prices of those old condos? I can tell you, in less than 50 years those property sharks will be aiming at you to move house liao. They are gonna redevelop after en bloc.

It is not so different you know. Because you are living in land scarce Singapore.
