Keto is only "good" because you lose weight. Nothing else is proven.

Look at the work/results of Dr David Unwin @lowcarbGP n Virtahealth IDM etc etc where non-fat or obese patients ALSO reverse their metabolic conditions WITHOUT weight loss

(Also my own n=1 as I didn't do LC with weight/fat loss in mind at all .... More for healthy blood test readings n hbA1C maintenance ...)

The ketogenic diet is becoming a popular way to lose weight.
The high-fat eating plan has been found to help manage Type 2 diabetes and epileptic seizures, and some scientists hypothesize that it could help make certain cancer treatments more effective.
David Harper, an anatomy and physiology professor, has been on the diet for six years. Hereís how itís been going.

Several points to note:

1. Is this dude a cancer researcher, or an anatomy/physiology professor? Title is inconsistent with content.

2. Whatever he is, he sure isn't a professor of nutrition or a professor of diabetes. As a comparison, should the general public all live in 3Gen HDB flats just because a social science professor specialising in political science publicly proclaims its worked best for him?

3. Even if we do consider him to be a subject matter expert, expert opinion is the absolute bottom rung in terms of quality of evidence.

4. The ketogenic diet is hardly well established in controlling type 2 diabetes. There is some emerging evidence that it may be effective, yes, but to call it "well established" is a long stretch.

5. The redeeming feature of this article is that it qualifies in no uncertain terms that this diet puts vulnerable people such as kidney/liver/pregnant patients at risk of "severe danger", and that keto should not be undertaken without professional supervision. It also correctly mentions that long term health outcomes are unknown. That's already 2 steps better than certain other rabidly pro-keto websites and even people on this forum.

Make no mistake: keto in the wrong patient can lead to harm. Not all diabetes patients (and not even all type 2 diabetes for that matter) are the same.

Ya man . I try the best diet without exercise my body still can’t make it . Got to keep forcing myself to exercise ....
must tweak it to make it work for you

I got my suddenly high cholesterol reversed to ok levels in just 3 weeks LC woe in Sep 2016 WITHOUT any exercise

AND still maintaining my good Blood Test Readings n hbA1C with continued Liberal LC 130g carbs daily limit most days (altho' well aware that Resistance Ex needed to combat Old Age Sarcopenia ....
Ah well my last vice bah - No Exercise ..)

Yup cavemen only eat proteins from animals.
But they never tell you the cavemen also ran, climb, kills and carry the hunted animals. The exercise that cavemen do is also very tough.
They later found out that cavemen ate a mixed diet, not meat only.

The ADA recently DID put LCHF as an Eating Option for T2D - thus removing the final bias against it !!!!!

see exchange with binbinpon over that in the other thread

Aiyoh before a person gets hit with any problems etc or even after with autoimmune diseases

My POV - in ranking :
1 Protein
2 Healthy Fat
3 Carb (CAN even be 0 Carb as not essential !!)

Protein n Fat are ESSENTIAL !

Whatever they ate; thatís was long long time ago

Donít think can follow 100%

Iím trying to follow the diet I had when growing up

Simple food

Nothing fancy

Most people end up with 三高 because they eat too much 好料

They later found out that cavemen ate a mixed diet, not meat only.

KPC's diet is about the worst example of LCHF/keto

The carb allowance is for fresh vegetables and fruits, not some processed starchy crap your mom was too stupid to buy dammit

If she can't even convince her mom forget about being a LCHF evangelist

1.Not keto-lchf only Liberal 130g LC

2. I prefer to be STILL able to enjoy life with some "processed starchy crap" n YET hv my Cake AND to eat it too being able to maintain good Blood Test Readings n hbA1C --------> obviously what I'm doing WORKS here !!!!

My most proud achievement in the Convincing Mom department was in getting stingy her Switched Over to pricier Coconut Oil from unhealthy PUFA Veg Seed Oils - in end-2016 after my research etc ....

Sadly tho' this switch came Too Late as mom was already beginning her Early Onset Dementia ....IF ONLY that realisation took place say 10 years Earlier then she could have avoided being afflicted with Dementia sighzzzzzzzz

Which means IF I had been aware of the benefits of the LC woe say 20-30 years back instead of only in 2016
Both of us would have avoided getting hit in the 1st place with these Metabolic Chronic ills too
