Yup i checked about 8 different retailers. I think ohm is the most suitable as i just want a 3-6 month contract. When released islandwide, i think will have more offer then i can switch later.

Yes, so far theirs has the shortest commitment. Also it will be renewed automatically if you did not tell them to. Hopefully 6mths later, can have better promo

For OHM, their 12 months "Fixed Ohm" plan "16.95 cents/kWh" also comes with the first 3 months trial period. 16.95 / 21.56 (current tariff) = about 21.4% discount.

So if your concern for taking up the 6 months 22% "Ohm Discount" plan is that after 6 months, the companies may not offer such a competitive rate anymore, then you may tie yourself down with the slightly longer 12 months "Fixed Ohm" plan.

Before the 3 months trial period ends, you can still look see look see.

If you don't mind the risk, and you want to continue monitoring the market regularly at the 3rd month and 6th month point then go for the 6 months "Ohm Discount" plan.

If you sign up now, the 3 months period will end roughly 1st week of July (start of Q3) and the 6 months period will end roughly on 1st week of October (start of Q4).

SP tariff formula(which is not entirely transparent) takes into account the oil price movement of the past 2 or 3 months. if you check back the historical crude price, you'll get a good idea of the upcoming change next week

Yeah, The trial will roughly end in July. Which is when the OEM would be rolled out to other towns in SG. The plans perhaps would be better or the same. Cos they have lots of potential customers outside Singapore.

Taking a look at our town population from the most populated. Jurong is the most populated after Bedok and Tampines. Hence, if Jurong they managed to get most if sales, it would be very good start to them and they may wish to carry on with better promos.

Taking a look a crude oil prices. I do not really know how to see, but the price over the past few months did not see any significant change eh.

Any idea, when will be the next announcement for tariff changes next month ?

Hmm. based on the press release above, for 1 jan to 31 mar tariff, It's announced like a few days before end of december. To be specific, 29 Dec is last friday or working day of the month.

This week is the last week, so i'm guessing perhaps 29th Thursday as 30th is a public holiday.

Was thinking now that Grab has acquired Uber operations in South East Asia. They have really diversified it's operations from Ride-hailing. They now have micro-financing and now with GrabFood (as UberEats gone). Won't they want to try into electricity market?

They have the data, they have the name, they have the correct mindset and business model. If they can partner one of the electricity retailers, won't that bring more competition?

Just like Sunseap partnering with Starhub, Keppel Electric with M1. You see Starhub and M1 is totally un-related to electricity. They enter electricity market by partnering one of the partners.

Who knows, they might come out with GrabPower. Pay electricity with GrabPay Credits.
