Correction.

We doesn't burn crude oil anymore to generate electricity. Steam turbine was used to generate electricity.

So if oil price is increase or decrease. There won't be any effect on electricity.

And yes in the past. Crude oil were use to burnt to generate electricity.
Oh. Is it? I though still burning some crude oil. Steam turbine? But how they generate the steam.

They are probably using this to target old folks to switch. Tell them how much money they get. Fullstop. That's it. They buy the idea. Using that formula, I can get $500 rebate. But no savings afterwards.

Using the discounted plan, I can save over $30 a mth which is around $720 over 24mths

When oil price drop. It drop price too. Same as when oil prices go up. EMA pricing of the electricity tariffs is always related to the price of crude oil.
https://www.ema.gov.sg/Piped_Natural...tural_Gas.aspx

About 95 per cent of Singapore’s electricity is currently generated using natural gas, up from just 26 per cent back in 2001, when oil was the preferred fuel.
They change already

FYI, we use natural gas which are price tagged to High Sulphur Fuel Oil (crude oil). So yes, oil price still affects electricity price in a really large way.

Are u sure it is tagged there?

The 10 year chart shows natural gas fell off a cliff from 14 dollars to 2.70 though.

For retail side, they have 15-15.5 cents electricity . It is still 10% higher for households hmmm

Wonder how cheap is the wholesale price? Cos geneco is selling 50% at off peak price ($0.10/kwh).

Just a quick summary for most products.

1. Discount from SP Group
- Straight % discount from your current SP Group rate. Quite straight forward for this

2. Wholesale Price
- Market price per half hourly. Note that Residential using the normal meter and not the half hourly one. What SP Group will do is profile your usage, so technically what time you use and how you use does not affect

3. Fixed Pricing
- Offer you xx.xx cents for a fixed contract length. You win if SP Group prices goes up, you lose if the SP Group prices drop.

The 1k is maximum also. The formula is past 3 months kwh average * $1.07.

Do ohm provide free meter change? Change TO AMI meter? What I know many retailers don't absorb it
