Open Electricity Market (OEM)

Open Electricity Market (OEM) is now open for registration for Jurong to Yishun consumers!

Timeline of rollout:
Apr 2018: Jurong - Postal 60,61,62,63,64
Nov 2018 : Bt Batok, Bt Timah, Woodlands, CCK-Yishun-Sembawang- Postal 58-78
Jan 2019: Bishan, Serangoon, Sengkang, Punggol - Postal 53-57, 79-80, 82-83
From Mar 2019: Postal codes 34-52, 81
From May 2019: Postal codes 01-33

Please read the following Facts
㊀ It is not compulsory for you to switch to a retailer. You can remain with SP Group to buy electricity at the regulated tariff if you prefer to do so.

㊁ Electricity is produced by the power generation companies. SP Group then transmits and distributes it to consumers through the national power grid. Your electricity supply stays the same whether you switch to a retailer or not. This is because SP Group will continue to operate the national power grid and deliver electricity to everyone.

㊂ Read the fine prints before signing up, some retailers charge miscellaneous fees such as retail service fee or paper bill fee. Please DO read very carefully before signing up and read the fine prints!

㊃ The SP current tariff are as below:
** Prices are before GST 7%**
S$0.2413/kWh - 2018 Oct-Dec
S$0.2365/kWh - 2018 Jul-Sep
S$0.2215/kWh - 2018 Apr-Jun

㊄ Before you decide on which retailer, first ask yourself do you want to receive the same SP paper bill even after switching to a retailer? Some retailers has SP integrated paper bill while the rest uses own e-billing. Retailers that use SP integrated billing are Ohm, Tuas Power, Red Dot Power and Best Electricity.

Updated 28-Dec-2018

For your info below (new info will be updated on 1-Jan-2019):
Want same bill with SP + cheapest? --> choose Ohm Fixed or Ohm Discount or Best 24-months Fixed or Tuas 36-months Fixed (first 100 only).
Want separate bill from SP + cheapest + longest duration? --> choose Pacific Light 24-months Fixed or GenEco 36-months Fixed or Sunseap discount plans or ES Power discount plans.
Want separate bill from SP + cheapest + shortest duration? --> choose SunSeap 6-month.

OEM plan calculator:
https://bit.ly/OEMcalculator (new info will be updated here on 1-Jan-2019)

OEM comparison chart:

Historical SP Tariff vs Oil Price -> SP Tariff only dropped below 20c/kWh once when oil price was $30+.
I would recommend to go for Fixed Rate plan for long term.

============================
For Ohm new signup on 1-Nov-2018, please take note that the Free Second Month is your Second Bill with Ohm. So, do a manual meter reading submission on your usual bill cycle date, hence your "first" bill with Ohm will end here. So...=:p

Assuming your SP billing cycle is on 16th every month:
Meaning, if you sign-up today (1st Nov), and your start date with Ohm is 10th Nov, your First Bill with Ohm will be in December for usage from 10th Nov to 16th Nov (yes, seven days only). <-- do a meter reading submission here via SP Group app.
Your Second Bill with Ohm (which is the FREE one) will be billed by SP in January 2019 for usage from 17th Nov to 16th Dec.

Confusing??? Meaning your electricity bill will always be one month lag behind your Water & Gas bill... See below.

Refer to Ohm's reply @ here

Went to Geneco roadshow at the Acarde there.

The price matching means, if you sign up with them, and within 7 days, you find a retailer cheaper than $0.1688/kwh, they will match the price.

How they do that?
The difference E.g $0.002kWh. They will multiply by 400kWh 24 mths.

The payout will be in terms of shopping vouchers and not bill rebate.
