Open Electricity Market (OEM)

Open Electricity Market (OEM) is now open for registration for Jurong to Pasir Ris consumers (except Clementi to Central areas)

Timeline of rollout:
Apr 2018: Jurong - Postal 60,61,62,63,64
Nov 2018 : Bt Batok, Bt Timah, Woodlands, CCK-Yishun-Sembawang- Postal 58-78
Jan 2019: Bishan, Serangoon, Sengkang, Punggol - Postal 53-57, 79-80, 82-83
Mar 2019: Tampines, Pasir Ris. Postal codes 34-52, 81
From May 2019: Postal codes 01-33

Please read the following Facts
㊀ It is not compulsory for you to switch to a retailer. You can remain with SP Group to buy electricity at the regulated tariff if you prefer to do so.

㊁ Electricity is produced by the power generation companies. SP Group then transmits and distributes it to consumers through the national power grid. Your electricity supply stays the same whether you switch to a retailer or not. This is because SP Group will continue to operate the national power grid and deliver electricity to everyone.

㊂ Read the fine prints before signing up, some retailers charge miscellaneous fees such as retail service fee or paper bill fee. Please DO read very carefully before signing up and read the fine prints!

㊃ The SP current tariff are as below:
** Prices are before GST 7%**
S$0.2385/kWh - 2019 Jan - Mar
S$0.2413/kWh - 2018 Oct-Dec
S$0.2365/kWh - 2018 Jul-Sep
S$0.2215/kWh - 2018 Apr-Jun

㊄ Before you decide on which retailer, first ask yourself do you want to receive the same SP paper bill even after switching to a retailer? Some retailers has SP integrated paper bill while the rest uses own e-billing. Retailers that use SP integrated billing are Ohm, Tuas Power, Red Dot Power and Best Electricity.

Why are old analogue water meter readings lower??
Its speculated that very old electric analogue meters are quite off the mark thus resulting in much lowered readings thus I wanted to check if this is a case for water meters also

Hi,

If you received the letter regarding OEM and found your way to this forum, kudos!

However you won't be able to sign up yet until 1st Jan 2019

As such it will be good if you start off understanding how the different plan types work before looking at different OEM prices since it might be adjusted (lowest now but who knows how they change when you can sign up on 1st Jan 2019 due to new tariff rate / signup promos)

Thus you will ready to pick which OEM based on the price plan + signup perk + promo etc or seek the recommendations from forumers here and decide if its really appealing to you closer to 1st Jan 2019

Since you are looking at online comparison based on figures, Keppel has one of the lowest and you can checkout their FB page for customer feedback to decide if lowest price point can tell you on such details.

Imo, the benefit of the forum is to find out beyond the dollar and cents if you will get high blood pressure and burst a blood vessel signing with an OEM because of using online comparison to pick based on lowest OEM costs...

Food for thought - if the price gap is slight only between OEMs then what's the price for your sanity or peace of mind

Some of the queries i replied which covers some of the question marks you might have right now:

https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/1...-post7803.html
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/1...-post4973.html

For those who are already eligible and have not signed up with OEM, look at the potential savings:
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/1...-post7362.html

Note to all new signups waiting for 1 Jan 2019: General rule of thumb - As mandated by EMA all OEMs will publish all authorised and approved promo amount on 1 Jan 2019 0001 hrs onwards on their respective websites thus please do not fall for terms like "power" code with amounts higher than listed on OEM website.

Cheers!

By switching, does the retailer need to install any hardware at my premise?

The peak/off peak plan from Keppel seems interesting. May I confirm the rates are before the stated discount?

Why not 36months? Tuas had everything ohm has and so locking in longer period of 36 months and higher rebates, lower rates as well

Sent from PM ME TUAS Power 50$ Online Referral using GAGT
Tuas is similar except referrals are limited vs Ohm referrals which are unlimited...thus if consumers are active like poppy...will end up having no referrals at a certain point...unless Tuas power update officially on their website...
