This is alarming. Asbestos is very deadly and can cause cancers within the lungs specifically "Mesothelioma" which survival rates are very low.

Somemore, it will show up maybe like 10 - 20 years later and SMRT can simply push the blame away if anyone sue them.

SMRT is really a lousy company with no proper vetting system.

If a normal CSO's word is wrong, which I doubt so as likely the technical team was consulted on the type of materials used, then what about other news released by them?

Obviously the latest SMRT response is trying to make things look not so serious.

unless ur car is HEPA filtered, normal filters means the asbestos fibre will still find its way into your car.

We'll need an independent taskforce to check on the smrt asbestos claim.

Smrt already said it was a mistake by the CSO.

Mrt's reply. Excerpts from the Straits Times.

"It was a human error caused by one of our customer relations staff putting his own words and sending the e-mail reply to a commuter too quickly... We are sorry for the unnecessary alarm caused."

But how did the CSO come up with those technical terms like "asbestos fibre" "composite brake blocks" "metallic grains" if it was indeed the staff putting his own words.

You mean like the staff was in the comfort on his own chair in front of a PC and thought

"Ahhh! A query from a customer! I need to sound impressive, clever and professional so that I can get a promotion. Need to come up with something creative by adding my own words. Mmmmmm *deep thought*
Ahh! Adding terms like asbestos fibre, composite brake locks, and metallic grains in my reply would sound impressive! Although I have no idea what they mean." And subsequently sends in the reply?
If the CSO had taken his own initiative and added salt and pepper to his reply, why did SMRT not follow up by providing the details of the constituents of the brake material?
