Btw hor, for those xiaomi vacuum users, does ur robot has the "squeaky" sound occasionally? This sound seems like those rubber tire rubbing against smooth surface kinda sound...

is it a useful item to have ?

these days can see similar product from med-range brands & cheaper too :o
not sure how it can cover all areas & detect every single speck of dust but thot it'd be great since it can somehow lighten e burden in e daily household chores

But whatever floats ones boat.. no right or wrong, a matter of preference..

Wahhh...$280 will be even way cheaper than the retail price in PRC leh (1699 RMB). No wonder seller chut pattern....

One good thing abt this mivac is the app shows the path it vacuumed, and is recorded in the logs. So can used ur dyson to vacuum those spots it might have missed, saving more time. So best of both worlds.

Nevertheless, their new laser navigation is pretty satki, can already cover alot of the area and didn't get stuck in the furniture ( unlike my previous stupid robot )

Got it yesterday, and after testing it for a day, must say that it's really impressive, for the price, especially if u compare it against the $1k+ top-end models from Neato/iRobot etc

Pros:
Very good at mapping out and vacuuming the house thoroughly, primarily the 2 main bedrooms and living room. Suction is way more powerful than my old cheapo one. Able to navigate and not get stuck from the furniture and stuffs. App shows the path and time taken, ard 48mins and from 100% battery, only used 24%. Able to use app to automate/activate cleaning and monitor the progress live from outside.

But some cons...
1) cliff sensor not sensitive enough to detect the drop of abt 3.5cm from the living room to kitchen ( yellow arrow ), thus once drop to the kitchen area, it is unable to go back up. Temp measure is to close door or use chair to block. Perm solution would be to place a magnetic strip.

2) The bump from sliding door to my PC room (green arrow into the red area) will make it stumble abit and turn it around, thus unable to cross over. Interim measure is to manually place it over into the PC room to continue cleaning. Might need to place some rug mat to facilitate it crossing over.

Overall, a very good robot vacuum (for the price). Hope it can last long enough hahah.

Today got new firmware update to the mivac. Not bad, at least the rockrobo engineers are actively improving the device.

Anyway, bought a cheap memory foam mat to place over the sliding door bump and thus managed to solve the cross over problem to the PC room. Now can clean the whole house ( except the kitchen ) automatically without any intervention in one go.

The only issue is the barrier drop to the kitchen. Bought a 1m thin magnetic strip from carousell, but it will still pass thru.... :( Think magnetic strip not strong enough for it to detect....Might have to get the original xiaomi magnetic strip...otherwise, just close door or use chair to block...

Overall still very satisfied with it's performance.
