Anybody here who is above 30 years old, got retrenched than cannot find job and apply this program?

Do they accept people who are retrenched?

To government, mid career refers to people who are 40 years and above. Traineeships are those like interns just you get higher pay. So for 30+ mostly can't apply for those traineeships.

If you are 30years old + , try the so-called SGUnited skills program. You can go to Skillsfuture course website and search by SGUS tag or SGunited skills tag. Basically they give you allowance ($1.2k-$1.5k per month) for studying or "re-skilling" and help you to find job at the same time as what you study.

If you are into IT or don't mind an IT job, you can check out these:

https://www.ntuclearninghub.com/sgunitedskills/
https://www.lithan.com/singapore/sgus-sgunited-skills-programme-details
https://www.tp.edu.sg/courses/part-time-courses/sgunited-skills

Though I heard that the amount of applications is currently massive, so even if you apply you may not be able to get in.

If it helps,

I am not sure about other places.. but I got an offer for a Sgunited Skills Programme at Temasek Poly.

I actually applied for several, including Google Skills Ignite, SMU and NUS programs. Temsaek poly was the first to reply. NTUC Learning Hub sent me an email to explain that they are overwhelmed with applications while others have not replied yet.

Just wondering are you able to keep on taking courses for the allowances. To be frank many of the so call courses will end up with nothing at the end of the 6th month.

What are those SMU and NUS programs? Are there any official names where I can search for?

no u cannot. u can only take one course under the initiative.

6th month is better than nth. try to go for those 9-12 mth if you are worried. probably will have other programs to help after 6 mth if situation doesnt get better.

as mentioned, just search for sgunited skills under skillsfuture course directory :
https://www.myskillsfuture.sg/conte...O *]&fq=IsValid:true&q=Tags:"SGUnited Skills"

or just search in google :

NUS "sg united skills"
xxx (NAME OF INSTITUTION) sg united skills

most already have websites up for these :

https://scale.nus.edu.sg/nus-sgunited-skills
https://academy.smu.edu.sg/sgunited-skills-programme-train-place-4851

When starting? And what course. So if google skills ignite offer you then how? Anyway I think digital marketing is also quite a general thingy nowadays. So would you accept whatever comes first?

I have attended around 12 courses from NTUC Learning Hub this month.. Although its mainly to get the training allowance, I did try to pick useful courses.

At the end of the day, I would say that many of their lecturers are well qualified, at least on paper and experienced wise, but in terms of delivery, 90% cannot make it.

One plus point about Temasek Poly is that all their SGUS courses are given Diploma status. While the other polys have limited courses and not all their SGUS courses have Diplomas. Also polytechnics will likely have better existing connections to employers vs NTUC.

I don't think they will allow two subsidized courses to begin with.

For me.. spending 15 hours a week on lessons and getting $1,200 a month isn't a bad deal. I am a self employed anyway. Am confident that can do other things to make up the difference.

At the end of the day, if I can transit to another career, good..

Suppose not, I don't see any loss for me.

For NUS, having a degree is a minimum requirement. I went for the interview yesterday. Overall, I am not confident if a person can learn multiple programming languages in 2 months. That is not considering there are other courses that have to be attended.

DIPLOMA IN INFOCOMM & DIGITAL MEDIA (ICT SYSTEMS, SERVICES & SUPPORT)..

End August.

For Skills Ignite, the one I applied for is the 9 month program, likely difficult to get in. Also, u could be assigned to any participating companies. Rather than bang on a maybe, it makes sense to me to take what is already offered.

I had already completed Google Adword certification several years ago..

If you had done a study of IT professionals' starting salaries and longer term, I opined that it is wiser to go into the IT field as a second career rather than do digital marketing.

not yet selected. just a 30 minutes conversation with their recruiter

Was that recruiter that interviewed you directly from Google itself? They asked general HR questions or very hands-on technical questions into the job functions?

Congrats bro! You rockz again! You applied for their Cloud Computing track or their Digital Marketing track?

Weren't you following the TFIP thread? I thought he got an offer from IBF already.. why still apply for Google's ignition program.
