In line with PDPA, I will not disclosed my current salary until I am gainfully employed by the new employer. :s22::s13:

If they did their homework and check your CV/job app where u may have indicate your current pay, why they ask?

They can see it in the application form that you filled up during the interview. Unless in the interview you don't need to fill form. It's better to be honest. Cuz if you get employed, the employer may ask you to show them your previous pay slip.

im attending an interview and my or past employer salary should be P&C

Did u ever did that (ie. not disclose) and able to get a job from the employer?

If were to apply through agency, they'll definitely ask about your current pay and expectations. And the employer might also ask again too.

I am willing to bet that unless this fella is either high position or rare skill, employers will think he guai lan and throw his resume out

I tried avoiding the question to varying degrees of success, but the hard truth is employers will ask, then they will pay you according to your last salary

Yes, truth. If the different is too much, either the candidate got problem, or the current/previous company got problem. Assuming both roles are similar in capacity.
