Man Utd will need to build the team around Pogba if they want success & any chance of winning the title.

Jose has only negative comments on Pogba.. so naturally the French had stopped loving him... so no reason for him to appoint Pogba as team captain unless being forced by the mgt.

Jose has not change his approach since

now this change of tune saying his style is not "United way" is why ar? im confused.

He left cos he want to accompany his wife. Her Sister passed away and SAF want to spend more time with her.

i think jose did his job, which was to curb the free-fall which moyes and LVG subjected the club to. If left unchecked, we will become another arsenal languishing out of UCL spot every year.

jose was never known for tiki-taka or gurgenpress. now that we are back as title challengers, some start to find fault with his ways of winning.

quite a lot of us are green-eyed when we look across the other 2 teams in north west england because of the way they play. Personally I wish Jose's team could play like that, but i will take points over style any day. Just look at arsenal (again)

in the top 5 of 17/18 table we are the 4th highest goals. 38 goals behind the 1st.

In our best season where we finished with a treble in 16/17, we scored a meagre 54 goals, with Zlatan as our main striker.

Yup we are scoring ALOT of goals:o

Asakura 08-08-2018 01:00 PM

im sure u know for a fact he told the team to score as little as possible for a change.

as i have pointed out. his title winning teams scored a lot of goals. so he is not the manager that thinks his team should score lesser

And i'm sure for a fact he does not want to change his tactics, and with that LKK is going to score hat-tricks every game with brilliant deliveries from his pet Alexis.

We're "title winning" on paper, but not on the pitch. I hope you actually realise that.

Yup, but so far our team was the 5th highest scoring last season. and 8th highest scoring in 2016/2017. Definitely not scoring a lot of goals is a problem and nowhere near what a title winning team should be in number of goals scored.

Those players we were missing for friendlies due to World Cup who were supposed to boost our attack when the season restarts...how many goals did they score during the WC tournament? And how many against the tougher opponents in the last 16?

We conceded the 2nd least no of goals in both 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 just slightly more than the winning team, but we are still looking for a CD somehow.

Asakura 08-08-2018 01:28 PM

u were saying his brand of football is defensive and don't score a lot of goals.
so i pointed out his title winning teams are one of the top few in terms of goals scored to show that he has not tried to win titles by being very defensive and don't score a lot.

he has not helped us to the title, that is correct.
and i cant argue that he has not been able to show us a team that can score more goals. that, he will have to sort it out with the players. but these are a different discussion as to why i mentioned the goals scored in his title winning teams.

Asakura 08-08-2018 01:30 PM

fans that been lamenting on Jones and Smalling being our top choice centrebacks, should be happy that he is adding another, esp an experienced one like Toby, which means at least 1 of them won't be playing for sure?

Actually there were a few matches when all our players performed at top gear last season, Pogba, Shaw etc.. But knowing JM he will suddenly revert to his old ways in the following match. Remember when we beat a top 6 team only to lose to a bottom team immediately the following match? This happened 3 times and I think this is what fans are frustrated about. It's the inconsistency in his approach to the matches. Good one week and awful the next.

Not even close to winning the title. How many reports predicted Man Utd will win the title this season? None. Most of the reports predicted Liverpool or Man City will win the title.

He was brought in cos he had won titles in all the club he had managed thus far.

Fact is nobody will care how he win the titles as long as he win it although some might complain he didnt win it the "united way" too...but the moment you cant deliver despite spending all the money.. all the forks, pitcher will go after him.

They are not our top choice, but JM chose to make them even when he have the others available. Actually more fans are lamenting our lack of goals and attacking strategy rather than defensive problems. Cos we know we have the top 2 keepers guarding our goal no matter who you put in the back 4.

YorYor 08-08-2018 02:05 PM

I suppose you could look at the whole defense as a unit - if it works, there's no need to shake things up too much. DavidDG would be familiar with the defenders playing in front of him at the moment, including being alert for the kind of typical errors those defenders are prone to.

Asakura 08-08-2018 02:07 PM

and JM is not the only manager keeping them both in the United setup when they are here.

market close, defence needs strengthening.

A GK for 70 over mil pounds and they say Pogba is expensive. incredible.

wait. how much is real paying for Courtois?

Asakura 08-08-2018 04:40 PM

final year in his contract
so they only need to pay 40m, to buy out his contract
Kepa has contract till 2025, so Chelsea has to pay over 70m to do the same

at the start of last season, i posted that we need around 80 goals to challenge for the title. in the end of 17/18, we hit 68 goals, an improvement from the miserable 54 goals the season before. goals scored per match is less than 1.8 goals, which lacks the crucial second goal that brings 1-1 draws to 3 point.

goal-scoring is always the main problem we haven't been able to sustain a proper challenge to Man City. not able to get the 2nd and 3rd goal to finish off mid/bottom table teams is the main problem.

looking back at our transfers this transfer window, it will be very hard to see any major improvement in goal-scoring...

Leicester City prepare for Harry Maguire to join Man Utd by agreeing £33.5m deal to sign Caglar Soyuncu and Filip Benkovic

According to The Times, Leicester are anticipating a last-ditch bid from United and have already made preparations by agreeing a £33.5 million double deal for two new centre-backs.

Paul Pogba delivers ultimatum to Manchester United after Barcelona bid

Barcelona target Paul Pogba has told Manchester United bosses that he wants a £200,000-a-week pay rise if he is to remain at the club, according to reports.

Pogba currently earns £180k-a-week at Old Trafford, but has demanded an enormous pay hike that would give him wage parity with January signing Alexis Sanchez on £380k-a-week.

https://metro.co.uk/2018/08/08/paul-...6/?ito=cbshare

He finally shows his motive. He wants an increase in pay. :s13::s13::s13:
