I have very serious doubts over who our defensive coach(es) is/are. Do the players even see how Leicester double/triple up on our players so effectively, whereas when we double-up on them they find a passing avenue with ease? If that win was away to Leicester, I'd probably sing a different tune, but that was at OT.

Is it our players that are actually not as technically sound as they have been made out to be, or our training not set-up to make sure players know how to deal with 2/3 markers (including other players making themselves available for a pass outlet)?

FC Astana next, and here's to hoping no upsets from a "minnow".
Nothing to do with our defensive coaches, but it's the same time I have been complaining about since the longest time ever.

The problem is that the team lack players who understands how to exploit space. In the past we had players like Scholes, Park or Carrick who understand these concepts.

Martial and Rashford only want the ball to be played to their feet, Mata is the only player who understands how to pull players and move around spaces. Sanchez did as well but it clearly didn't work as well.

Jose Mourinho put it best - to have achieved second with that squad will be his best achievement ever.

Players now seem to just want to do their own thing.

“Chelsea were not compact defensively, too much space to play, not enough aggression on the ball — the defensive line, the midfield, the attack — they were not compact,” he said in the Sky Sports studio on August 11.

“I think United will find it much more difficult to play against teams with low compact blocks.

“If the blocks are low blocks, it will be really difficult for them without a pure striker.”

The day glazer is in charge, you can forget about woody leaving. Glazer love him, they didn't see anything wrong.

Woody didn't see anything wrong with the squad. Cannot perform cause manager CMI, given that group of players he should perform.

Issue found with the squad are not deal with fast enough. Usually wait 1-2 seasons later then try to solve. But by then, more issue appear.

Woody is solving past season questions in every current season.
that's Bcos there is no long term plan in place. and there is no long term plan because the managers kept getting sacked or not supported with transfers.

the only plans this club has are how to earn from the brand.

"Playing performance doesn't really have a meaningful impact on what we can do on the commercial side of the business."

"This trade [Sánchez to United] generated some interesting social media stats. It was the biggest United post on Instagram with two million likes and comments, the most shared United Facebook post ever, the most retweeted United post ever, and the hashtag #Alexis7 was the number one trending topic on Twitter worldwide."

"To put that into context, the announcement posts generated 75 per cent more interactions than the announcement of the sale of the world’s most-expensive player last summer when Neymar moved from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain.”

Hope to see Ole succeed.. probably he is building.. needs time to do it.. this season don't think we are cut out to be in top4.. keep sack manager also no use..
The 3 signings this season are looking good. Main thing must not sign wrong player who can't perform.

like anyone would know beforehand that a particular signing will turn out right or wrong

what other teams been doing is, when things don't work out they correct it as quickly as possible by getting replacements again.
United is just sacking managers, this one give clean slate, that one cannot sell, and half a dozen of players with expiring contracts cos been using the extend 1 yr option to buy time.

I thought manu won last game in a pathetic way. Yeah right he chose the correct players, matic plus Tom plus mata. This provides stability and they lost less balls than pogba. But for a home game that is playing against a team that is not even top 6, struggling to win 1-0 shows ole is not the right manager for them. I will be surprised manu will be even in top 6 after season end.

David De Gea has signed a new long-term contract with Manchester United, keeping him at the club until at least June 2023. There is an option to extend for a further year.

David, 28, joined United in 2011 and has made 367 appearances so far.

During his time with the club, he has won the Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cup, the UEFA Europa League and the Community Shield.

Finally!

At the numbers discussed, i'm perfectly happy for DDG to earn that wage. He's deserved it even if last season was a distraction for him.
