Recession Coming, Rolex Luxury watch prices dropping

Economic data getting from bad to worse. Recession coming.

In 2018 alone, quite a number of Rolex models in the secondary market are selling far above retail prices. This is despite Rolex maintaining its much lower RRP. The last time this happened, the 2008/09 financial crisis brought secondary market prices down by up to 35% (for daytona models, 20+% for subs), to similar or just above RRP.

Now can see still many resellers and scapels dancing to the music. Would be interesting to see who ends up holding the baby when the music stops. Especially those holding the steel models for up to twice the RRP. Sweat. Precious metals models not so bad.

I've seen it once in 1997, again in 2009. Could the next one be in 2020? Let's wait and watch the show.

TBH, if your daytona rolly is not ceramic bezel, then good luck to you. The resale price already downward trend since rolex came up with the ceramic bezel daytona models.

Just saying ... 😅😂
Cheers

Bro, no offence but not sure if you know what you're talking about. Back in 2016 when the ceramic model came out, the market price of the 116520 was below 20k. They are easily in the 24-27k range now. I don't know how this is interpreted as a "downward trend".

Just saying.

Dont just look at a popular day model. Look at entire range over the years. U focus on most popular model, sure bao jia. I concentrate on paul newman, also bao jia. U aggregate the range of models and a different pic will emerge. Plenty of public info for u to do homework.

If we say everyone holding day now is holding a bao jia model, then bo weh gong liao 😂😂

It depends ... early this month, i walked into one of the major ADs in town, in my tshirt and pants, not intending to buy, but eventually took a liking to a PAM costing mid 5 digits.

Dont find the price to my liking, so said i go for lunch and come back when stomach satisfied. After lunch when i popped in again, the young SA very proactive, offer drinks etc and then straightup offered 20% off rrp. Since he so 'sincere', i said okay. Ended up with that PAM in my collection ... 😅😅
