Hi brothers out there,

I am very new to rolex therefore i need some advises from you guys. I am acutually intending to buy this:

Make : ROLEX 1601 (Serial no: 38574XX)

Movement : ROLEX signed 26 Jewel Automatic Movement Cal.1570 - adjusted 5 positions

Bracelet : Rolex Signed Stainless Steel Jubilee Bracelet (wrist size up to 7.25 inches)

Dial : Beautiful Rolex White dial with Raised Silver Chromed Roman hour markers

Crown : Original ROLEX signed crown

Watch Size: approx. 36mm diameter (excluding crown) & 39mm (including crown)

Wondering what is the second hand value out in the market?
What should i look out for?

I love the design of white dial with roman letters.....Hope to get some help. Thanks.

1601 ish a very old model.... maybe even 4 decades old. make sure you bling it to a qualified watch maker to check if the movement's functioning well as well as all the parts are original....
i wouldn't spend more than 1~2k on it... serious...

Actually, it's best to bring it to the Rolex Centre to check. I just took my friend's watch to a pawnshop to check for 2nd hand value, then went to Rolex Centre to verify that it's all original before I bought it from him. This is the watch I bought from him, it's actually a boy's/midi model that's very similar to this -

I don't think anyone can give you any kind of definitive figure, just estimates I think. Can't you take the watch to Rolex Centre to verify first? Then, go to a pawnshop that does branded watch and ask for an estimate (they'd probably charge you for the service). I did both becoz I need to know that the watch is ALL original, and the price at which I can unload the watch (should I not want it anymore). Besides, knowing the pawn value price point of the watch help set the selling price of the watch.....at least, that's the logic for me.

BTW, can you reduce the size of your pic? Damn big and not friendly to those with slower net connection.

Hi, thanks for your advise. I'm thinking of wearing the watch, but as you can see, the condition is very bad. Was thinking of bringing to a shop to polish it to make the scratches less obvious, but not sure how much will they charge me and also will those shop people change the parts behind my back when they are doing polishing. Got the watch fr my dad, not sure if it is fake or real, let say go for verfication how much will it cost? And also polishing? Any trusted shop, to be sure that those guys would not change the parts? Pls advise.
