You have to have HDMI Audio driver installed for Nvidia... try reinstalling Nvidia driver while connected to HDMI...

Also make sure your Audio output is HDMI. If all else fail, try changing the HDMI cable.
thanks psyco and chiaRH

weird, it works when i connect to my old TV

conversely, my old laptop can output HDMI audio to the new TV in question

shall try reinstalling the Nvidia driver

Download from nVidia official drivers page at : https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Find Notebook 1060 or something depending on your GPU.

The new PB series looks like it will replace the PA series as the non-maxQ laptops that arent huge desktop replacement.
Well, based on the thread replies there, the PB50 specs wise, looks more like it will succeed the P650 Gaming Class (sold here one of Aftershock's most popular laptop chassis in years, the S-15), and with three new upgrades: Slim Bezel 15.6 144Hz FHD Display, Thunderbolt 3 port and Per-Key Backlighting Keyboard. Won't be surprised if the S-15 makes a comeback under this new PB50 chassis. But a smaller power brick for the PB50 RTX 2060 model (180W adaptor, same as P650RE3 chassis under S-15 with GTX970M 3GB) could pose potential problems because apparently the Mobility Turing GPU consumes a tad more power than the Mobility Pascal predecessor (GTX1060 6GB runs at 80W TDP compared to RTX2060 6GB running at 90W TDP), and the P650RP6 with GTX1060 is assigned a 200W adaptor.

Even the PRIME 15 could see a refresh with the 16.1-inch 144Hz display and RTX 2060/RTX 2070 Max-Q options.

My guess is that if Aftershock ever need to mark up their prices for these new chassis refresh due to cost increases, the only justification would be to make the 144Hz 1080p High Refresh Rate Slim Bezel displays for these refreshed units standard configuration first.

Preview for these new Clevo chassis: https://www.notebookcheck.net/Clevo-....390371.0.html

Currently aftershock product lineup has very lacking variety in GPU distribution. if you want anything more powerful than 1060, your options are very limited.

The most glaring omission is that there is no 15 inch with full 1070, you only got the Prime with 1070 max q and aftershock never offered 1080 max q in anything. Now for Turing, even a GS65 and Aero can have 2080 max Q, if clevo has no such offering it will lose market share (the problem with clevo is in the past the top GPUs only go to those huge MXM slot laptops that only a few people get)

Plus aftershock has too many slim laptops now. If the new clevo slim laptops still have mediocre cooling i think maybe for the slim laptops aftershock should just go full tongfang

I ordered a bigger battery from hongkong for Apex 15 laptop on 4th Jan.

gk5cn-00-13-4s1p-0 15.2V, 4 cell laptop battery arrived today. Shipping was quick.

Specs

3 Cells vs 4 Cells
Voltage: 11.4 vs 15.2
mAH: 4100 vs 4100
Wh 46.74 vs 62.32
+33% more power.
cost: Not worth it.

Compared to the original battery (3 Cells), 4th cell takes over the 2.5" Slot in the Apex 15. Since I am not using the 2.5" slot, I can fill it up with the bigger battery.

When placing the new battery, I had to fold and hid the SATA cable under the 2nd m.2 SSD slot.

Finally, laptop feels complete with 2* m.2 SSDs and the big battery.

Charging and Switching on works. Going to test full cycle and report back how long it can last surfing web and gaming.

3 Cell batt - Gaming, 45 mins (100% to 10%). Surfing net, 2:45.
4 Cell batt - Gaming, 75 mins (100% to 10%). Surfing net, 3:50.

this is the new evo 17 and 16 from origin. So new that the GPU model names arent even officially mentioned yet in tech specs.

likely these will be the future prime-15 and S17-R successors. if we're lucky these will make it in time for March IT fair

good that tongfang actually has multiple GPU options now, shame about the lack of 2080 max Q when so many competitors are offering it

managed to resolve the issue

deleting the Nvidia HD Audio driver (without reinstalling) did the trick!

I got monster hunter world for PC during the Christmas sale and tried it out on my S17.

CPU really takes a beating with that game in some zones, can actually run hotter than furmark temps

This is a skylake 6700HQ that was repasted by aftershock only a few weeks prior in Dec.

Although in all fairness this is MHW, which runs denuvo and has a lot of CPU-intensive workload going on haha, still hope my laptop can live long enough to see me beat the game

Is the S17R worth buying now or is it better holding off till they announce a newer version?

depends what you are looking for

some people wait for new GPU to come out so that the previous generation prices will drop and give them a better deal to get the outgoing stuff.

notebookreview forums has some images of the P970, glad clevo knows how to do slim bezel while keeping the webcam in the right spot unlike gigabyte

ports look very crammed on the left though, and we're less one USB port compared to earlier 17.3" models, but the form factor looks generally quite good for a 17-inch slim device
