Very boring. Strict alcohol ban. Zero nightlife. Everything shuts down on Fridays. Maybe you can visit Kampong Ayer (3 hours tops), Jerudong Park and the palace.

Yes i've been once. Maybe you can try their local food there called Ambuyat and try their Roti too (roti prata). You can try visiting Kampong ayer too as recommended by beanstalk. Just need to pay a small amount to the boatman and he will bring you around.

Taxi fares are at the same level as ours. I recalled seeing many taxis at the airport. There is an airport bus to the city centre.

Gone to Brunei quite a number of times for business. it is a very strict muslim nation like many said. As a foreigner, you are restricted to a certain quantity of alcohol from the airport but can only be consumed in your own room. Not sure whether that has changed but it was like this a few years ago but I am not an alcohol person so never bothered. Most Bruneians party in Miri Malaysia, an hour drive away, where alcohol and ahem actions are plenty. While it is pretty boring, I always stay in Empire, it has its own cinema haha and alot of people go there to see the Proboscis Monkeys which can be done in a day trip. But it is true not tourism is probably not its strongest suit.

Sharia law continues to be implemented in phases there. Not that they will affect the typical tourist, but Brunei will be even less fun than before.

actually no alcohol also good. cause drink too much will become siao lang and end up whack people.

but brunei has zero attractions except for mosques and that jungle which saf likes to conduct training.

I also wanted to go Brunei but after some searching in the net, I found there's nothing much there. No point waste my air ticket there.

I remember my ex colleagues told me many years ago, she went to work in Brunei as a cashier in hotel. Very boring she said, after work she will go home. Her life was like work go home work.

back from brunei

wonderful place to relax , low crime rate but dont expect to buy any branded stuff there..

non stressful, people do not walk fast there. no traffic jams

food wise, about same sg price, dont expect it to be lower..

no tall shopping malls. all low rise building

heard above 60 years old citizen get 250 dollar per month from govt. not bad ah..

although the internet says about 10% people are chinese, but rarely see chinese there thou..

Surprisingly they have a lot jollibee and only 1 mcdonalds.

water is cheaper than petrol which is only 50 cents+ per litre

heard that brunei discriminates chinese. many chinese still stateless.

brunei does not need tourism since they are oil rich.

how much does your airfare costs? too bad no budget airline flies there if not i would have done a day trip or 2d1n trip to explore the place.
