Tempted to try. Use phone mainly for work, talk, email and surf net. Watch video and read on my tablet but may change with this :)

Questions for current users:
- ROM stable?
- Battery life ok?
- Any drop call, wifi connection and 4G network problems?
- Seems like different variation from different sources, I just need basic model. 32gb good enough?

Thanks

Miui is out of question. Never a stable version.

Just tested mi max on Aukey pa-t15 Qualcomm QC 3.0 charger, can charge up to 15.1W according to the watt meter display from 24% onwards.. it's higher than what the xiaomi 5V 2A charger can provide.. (10W). My mi max variant is 32gb variant

Oh my? How unstable is miui? how often will hang/reset?

Prefer stability instead of latest and best :p

I am on Global rom for Mi4i and Note 2. On average, I would have to reboot the phone once a week. For Mi4i, it gets auto reboot if I do not do it.

Haha, my Mimax went for a 5 second swim in an Aussie stream, took a inclined dive and a upward swing before sinking into the 2ft deep rocks. Wetted my boots retrieving near a falls. Left in rice for 18 hrs and working fine. Heng, botaiji.

Reboot cause it hangs or just to clean it up? How to now if seller provides global rom onboard phone? If not, possible to DIY and boot global rom on phone.

Thanks

Global rom not available for max yet. Maybe unofficial does.

You need to unlock bootloader in order to miflash global rom.

- mi unlock to register unlock.
- wait a week or so. I waited 4 days.
- unlock using mi official software, takes 5mins or so.
- use miflash and put your phone in bootloader mode.

Detail step can be found at miui.

The Mi4i is a disappointing device. That lag..

Agreed with that. Disapointed design. When it was with the old version of Miui. It perform well but at time over heat.
I guess due to over heat issue, they basically reduced the clock rate and hence slower.

How did you do the measurement? Thru software or via those external USB monitoring device (some call charger doctor).
If you use software method. You may want to double confirm it with those external device, ensure that USB voltage is switch to 12v or 9v.
