Try read up in the miui forum, there are method which no need unlock boot loader also can flash to original China/global rom.
I have done it for Redmi 3, Redmi note 3 and mi5.

Got mine with the same version with adware. Couldn't manually load in a new rom either. Gonna wait for for the unlocked bootloader and see what happens. Think until then will use my sony ultra Z.

do note tt simder newer sets come with 7.3.11 custom rom with google play installed but cant do update at all even when I dl the latest rom from miui website
resetting the phone doesnt help either...
simder de healing shield sp is a gd buy though...

In China now, managed to snatch a mi max 3gb ran 64Gb Qualcomm 652 version from Xiaomi site at launch sales. Cost RMB1699 or S$348 equivalent. Receiving next week.
Will do some review next week. The 652 version only released last week. Don't think Qoo10 has ready stock.

Wanna check something with you guys. On qoo10, NSE has listed a 2gb/16gb mi max model selling at $279. There are people posting on their QnA asking if this is real and NSE replied saying this is real and they have actual stock in hand even though officially xiaomi has not released a 2gb/16gb model for mi max. So has anybody actually purchased a 2gb/16gb set from NSE?
