There are slightly cheaper sellers on qoo10 if you combine $10 mc item coupon + $50 cart + 1000 qpoints. However, all these are oversea sellers so if the phone arrives with any problems, it would be a absolute hassle to try and do an exchange. If you purchase locally and self collect from shop, at least you can check the set on the spot for any issues.

OK just to update..got my USB doctor..mi max 32gb variant have quick charge on it..now at 8V, 2A charging..very impressed for a $300 plus device.. haha

Is this a better phone then redmi note 3 from specs perspective other then bigger screen size? Was considering getting the note 3 but constantly no stock from xiaomi website.

In China now. Snatched a mi max 652 64gb from xiaomi store when it was released 18 Jun. Been playing it for 5 days.
Here is a mini review
Phone outlook- look and feel good, Big screen but slim, can still fit into pocket.
Display- Crisp and sharp although not as sharp as my samsung note 5
Speed - don't play resource demanding games but I have never notice any visible lag.
Battery life - good. Last me 16 hours and still have 45% most of The time with My usage pattern.
Software- flashed to miui 8 developer version 6.6.16. Like it a lot especially The clone application feature. Using 2 whatsapp and 2 wechat account in one phone. one China and one Singapore account.
Camera- excellent photo with Good lighting but low light just so so.

Overall, satisfied with the phone.

Take note if you rooted The Phone to remove bloatware, don't remove mi app store and mi account. You will end up with bootloop.
