Well, Android Pay, Google's mobile payment service, launches in Singapore today. Singapore is only the 3rd country in the world to enjoy Android Pay, after its launch in the United States last September and in UK last month.

Unfortunately, Mi Max isn't equipped with NFC... :-(
Currently only Mi 5 of Xiaomi's recent lineups able to support Android Pay due to it having NFC.

Well, damn! I still don't understand why NFC is not a standard feature on every smartphone out there nowadays, just like WiFi & Bluetooth!? Man, it's 2016 now, not 2006!

Is the NFC chip really so damn expensive that adding it will increase the BOM costs significantly? :-(

That's because NFC is not greatly used in China, only now that Apple Pay and Samsung Pay started to rise in China.
That's why most China phones doesn't comes with NFC, while international brand phones does usually comes with it as the basic.

Mi Pay may be launching soon in China too :o

I really wonder how many actually ditch your credit cards at home? I find it pointless when the physical card still need to be scan when redeem points. :s8:

Yup, all these whatever Pay will definitely need NFC to work. :)

Anyway, good news for early adopters of Android Pay!
Just read this:
"To celebrate the launch of Android Pay, DBS/POSB is feeling generous.

From now till 30 Sep, enjoy 25% cashback on your first 5 Android Pay transactions from now till 30 September 2016. You can get up to a maximum of S$10 cashback from the first 5 transactions."

IMHO, Android Pay & NFC will take off like a rocket once this is done:
"Google also said it will be working to include EZ-Link card in Android Pay in the future.
The Google executive noted that the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will be piloting an account-based ticketing system, and it is "excited" to get on once the regulator is ready with the system. In March, LTA had said it will be piloting the system in the 4th quarter of this year, which will allow commuters to use contactless debit or credit cards to pay their fare.
LTA said the system will enable commuters to use their cards for transport fares, without the need for upfront top-ups. This is similar to post-paid mobile phone subscriptions or utility bills as transactions will be processed and charged to the commuter in subsequent credit or debit card bills, it added. With the system, commuters will have an additional option for fare payment, and it eliminates the hassle of fare card top-ups, the authority said."

NFC is just for convenience sake. Still prefer to pay via cash whenever applicable

Where can I buy screen protector for Mi Max?
You can try looking around taobao. Or those shops in SLS that are selling xiaomi phones. If don't want pay so much then can head to JB. Went there yesterday to ask and it's 20RM. If can wait then can try taobao as I wanted full coverage one but the one in JB not full coverage.

Saw someone on the train struggling to use it on the packed train with 1 hand. Screen protector is still on and he was fumbling with the settings haha.

anyone know how to fix the notification delay/missing can help me pls?

My whatsapp notification is working perfectly but for 2face app( whatsapp clone) i can only receive notification when i open the app, on my other phone the notification works perfectly.

And for apps like carousell and qoo10, i dont receive any notification for the chat and ads even if i open the app.

My xperia z and mi max have the same app and the same acc but only xperia z received the notification.

What i have done - remove the restriction from battery & performance> manage battery usage.

-turned off miui optimization in developer options

-set auto start

-and change the app notification setting exactly same as whatsapp setting.

May i know how much free ram you have when there is no app running?

I only have 1.2/3gb gb of ram available for mi max...
My old redmi note 1 has 1.2gb/2gb of ram as well...
