IMHO, Android Pay & NFC will take off like a rocket once this is done:
"Google also said it will be working to include EZ-Link card in Android Pay in the future.
The Google executive noted that the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will be piloting an account-based ticketing system, and it is "excited" to get on once the regulator is ready with the system. In March, LTA had said it will be piloting the system in the 4th quarter of this year, which will allow commuters to use contactless debit or credit cards to pay their fare.
LTA said the system will enable commuters to use their cards for transport fares, without the need for upfront top-ups. This is similar to post-paid mobile phone subscriptions or utility bills as transactions will be processed and charged to the commuter in subsequent credit or debit card bills, it added. With the system, commuters will have an additional option for fare payment, and it eliminates the hassle of fare card top-ups, the authority said."
NFC is just for convenience sake. Still prefer to pay via cash whenever applicable
