Hey do you guys use the Mi Gallery app to view your saved photos? Trying to figure out how to get rid of the cloud with a slash icon (i.e. not backed up to cloud) on my photos because I don't want to back up to Mi Cloud (I already have 1TB OneDrive). Seems like the cloud integration is super baked in because at the top of the app it asks me to Turn on sync with Mi Cloud.



Make sure you can handle such a big phone. It's actually quite tiring I found when I was using it in bed last night to hold it up above my head to use! Definitely a two handed phone.

For the Gallery app, try this :

1. Go to the app
2. Select "Albums" and you'll see top right got 3 dots (vertically)
3. Touch on it and select "Only show local albums"

Is this what you want?

Ok. I must say that hold this phone is really really not easy. But with this "ring" ... I tell you, makes it a hell lot easier.

If not where should I go to repair?

Don't think crack screen is ever covered in any warranty. I ever read in this thread before that a bro here also cracked his screen. I think he bought the replacement OEM via taobao and ship from China.

Same thing. Keeps trying to push me to upload it to the cloud with the cloud button at the top and the cloud with a slash through it when looking at thumbnails.

Noob Question: I am thinking of getting the 64GB or 128GB version which currently doesn't have global ROM.

What are the issues of running official China ROM? I can't install Google Play Store? I read somewhere that China ROM have issue with Whatsapp notification, how serious is it?

In case your query is not answered yet, you can google for the Google play services installer on Baidu. It will settle the Google playstore part for you. But, just remember, after installing playstore, it will prompt you that cannot download due to some DBDGDFF (this is garbage, I don't remember the error code) error. All you need to do is to go to settings, google, remove the Google account that you added during installation, re-add and then reboot your phone.

Another issue you might face is the contact sync issue. Need to go into security app and enable all the permission it asked for. Same for WhatsApp.

After this, should be fine and working well. I use a 64 GB as my entertainment phone. My daily driver is the 32 GB version.

Unfortunately that doesn't seem to help - I think that just means it will hide stuff only available on Mi Cloud. Doesn't get rid of the the reminder at the top to push me to upload (I do note the Google one is slightly less intrusive).

As for the ring, you have a huge case on an already large phone!

I didn't end up going Y2K as I found a shop in Bugis+ on the bridge which had a transparent black plastic case from Mercury Goospery for $15. Then found a screen protector which was plastic (not tempered glass) at Hitec mobile (I am pretty sure it's the one they get for free with Nillkin case). I'm still waiting for my Frosted case linked below which I ordered for $13 with free delivery.

I bought local set from hachi.tech (Challnger) using my existing rebate and credit card rebate so I wouldn't have to worry about any of that and it works great out of the box.

And another benefit for buying from challenger is that you can tambah $9.90 for 1 year insurance that covers 1 x crack screen. Still must pay, but not as expensive.

I see. You don't want to back to to the cloud. Just disable Back up and Sync in Settings for Google photo.

How about in Mi Account App > Mi Cloud > Gallery > Disable

I haven't tried. Maybe it will work?

Already had it disabled - didn't change the clouds with a cross appearing.

Is your crack really bad? Mine is just a single line crack so I am still ok with its condition. You may want to try those Sim Lim repair shops. Screen size is not a problem because they actually cut it out from a big piece of glass. Now, don't believe me entirely as they may not reveal this.

I just received this case which I ordered from Aliexpress. It is cheap but it is huge! I tried putting in on and it just made a very big phone ridiculously big. Good thing I ordered some other cases...
