I don't know whether should I buy outerwear from uniqlo, northface or universal traveller..
I like uniqlo white down jacket knee length.. Going to shigragawago too. Is uniqlo down jacket a good choice for shigragawago and Tokyo ? Going during mid Feb till end Feb.

My layered outfit in Hokkaido 0C plus wind chill :
- cotton T and/or uniqlo heat tech (fancy name)
- cotton long sleeve shirt
- wool sweater
- uniqlo down parka

- "snow" pants (with fleece lining inside) water proof & wind proof
- woollen gloves
- ear muffs & neck warmer from Daiso

I find ear muffs worked much better than a beanie
Still yet to find gloves that are not too bulky ... my hands still get cold
What I dont have is water proof footwear for snow

The places I go is around 3 to 10c.. Planning to wear these.
WOMEN Ultra Warm Down Coat *will take off the hood when I'm in tokyo*
Fleece sweater
Normal long sleeve shirt *will skip this when I'm in tokyo*
Long sleeve heattech

I can't really withstand cold.. So I guess the above is enough?

Is long sleeve turtle neck heattech counted as bra or not ah? Lol because I will only wear coat plus heattech plus fleece..

For bottom.
Uniqlo BLOCKTECH Pant
Heattech leggings

sounds ok if it is 3 to 10c.
but maybe double check the temp for shirakawago. coz jan-feb is usually the coldest, and shirakawago shld have quite heavy snowfall.

Do you think both the below are ok?

WOMEN Ultra Warm Down Coat *will take off the hood when I'm in tokyo*
Fleece sweater
Normal long sleeve shirt *with turtleneck* *94% Cotton, 6% Spandex *
Long sleeve heattech *no turtleneck*

Or

WOMEN Ultra Warm Down Coat *will take off the hood when I'm in tokyo*
Fleece sweater
Normal long button up shirt *100% Cotton*
Long sleeve heattech *with turtleneck*

Or are there any type of jacket which i can replace the fleece zip jacket? Not thick ones please :)

Another suggestion is once you are in Japan to stop by a Daiso or 100Y shop and get an extension cord. They should cost 150-200Y depending on the length. Some hotels don't have a plug near your bedside or at a convenient location, so the extension cord at least allows you to some flexibility.

I usually bring along one of this

i would recommend flannel shirts as they are warmer...
but a nice warm fleece like this
http://www.uniqlo.com/jp/store/goods/172286
for more flexibility, a thin sweater below a medium weight fleece is recommended...
like a thin merino wool sweater
http://www.uniqlo.com/jp/store/goods/173606

turtleneck can save the weight of a scarf or muffler
and wearing a knit hat together with a hood can make a big difference...

shirakawago will be under snow, so make sure you have nice socks and good footwear

Sg uniqlo doesnt sell turtle neck sweater :( normal ones all out of stock..

I don't think I can wear sweater because with the down jacket plus fleece jacket is really thick and heavy.. my arm area will feel thick liao no space.. How about sleeveless vest?

I feel that the uniqlo fleece are not soft and quite thick.
Are there any good fleece jacket which are not so thick yet provide warm in sg?

I will bring scarf and beanie.

I don't like turtleneck wear as I find it constricting and annoying if you end up indoors where it is warmer or where there is poor ventilation. I rely on very thin scarves that I can tuck into my top to seal off from wind etc, then an added thicker scarf when outdoors and colder.

Sleeveless vests are great - I have a uniqlo down version so it's more compressible and can fit better underneath an outer coat.

Is it this vest? is it thicker than fleece?

This type of vest should wear on or under fleece jacket ?
