The miui forum say there's way to enter edl mode to flash the device. No need unlock bootloader.

i tried already. iirc miui 6 and above cannot enter edl mode liao.

I am totally aware they removed edl few mths ago for mi5.

this is something new. post date is 21 dec 2016.

Hi all, do any of Mi 5 units get warm sometimes quite hot to the touch on the top around the camera area? My unit runs quite warm only after short time of use, running latest global stable ROM v8.1.2. Is this normal?

Ya bro. But mi5 and max is 2 different models. Maxlovely also stated edl mode for mi5 is removed.

I just flashed a mi max yesterday. You can't use command prompt to enter edl anymore but you can still enter edl through pressing volume up and down together and plug in USB cable.

It gets warm when I turn on GPS and running google map. There's a few times I got the temp warning above 40 Celsius when running google map under and the phone under direct sunlight.

I was trying to clarify that not all phones after miui 6 has the edl removed. At least not for Mi Max.

Yup. Normally i enter edl mode via keypress. Did not know what it can be accessed by cmd prompt.
