Potential buyer here... What sort of problems have you guys experience with Mi 5 before? Does it have heat / battery drain / random crash problems?

Edit for more question:

I read that most phones come with China rom, is it easy to flash it with the global rom? Is it by using Method 1 of this page: http://en.miui.com/a-232.html ?

Edit Edit:

I read (from page 70~ onwards), found out that originally unlocking the bootloader is required to flash global rom. But there is at least once (that someone here) said that he just used the updater app. So depend on luck? LOL

I can only say that this is a cheap flagship with high end specs.

To my understanding, all export sets sold are on china roms. Unlocking of bootloader is required in order to flash to global rom.

I will suggest that you can save time by requesting to have approval to unlock bootloader 1st.

You should use http://en.miui.com/a-234.html to flash instead from pc.

Well battery is not that good, much worse than the 5 inch pixel
There are also UI lags compared to the pixel
But you do get SD820 for cheap..

Ya, below average battery life and phone performance for a flagship model.

Can be further improved.

Shouldn't compare with pixel that is 4x the cost of mi5. It should compare with other ~$300 like Asus zenphone 3, Samsung J7 prime, etc. Mi5 now is the old flagship with mi5s.

Snapdragon 650/652 on Mi max thought not the fastest but is very stable. The 32gb mi5 using underclocked Snapdragon 820 might not perform as well as 650/652. Mi 5 also got to limit to 2 core to save power as it has only 3000mah battery.

Sent from Xiaomi MI NOTE LTE using GAGT
