My Sony TV KDL-43W800C was working fine until last night when I received a notification to update its software which I let it proceed. This morning when I turned it on the LED was flashing green and amber and there is no display, only sound. I switched off the main and on again but the same thing still persisted. Anyone has this issue? :vijayadmin:

Tks. Tried. Nothing happened after I followed the factory reset steps. The display is not on so I don't even know if I need to click something on the TV to proceed with the reset or not.

Oh dear, I was just contemplating whether to update - anyone else updated their TV yet?

Btw, TS, do you know if the update was successfully completed the previous night?
Also, when you switch off the mains, make sure to wait at least 3 mins before turning it back on.

This link mentions blinking green and blinking orange - but not both colors at the same time:

I was not aware if the update was completed as I just let it do its stuff. Last I noticed was that the TV went off by itself after the update.

I definitely waited more than 3 minutes during my attempts to "bring it back".

As for the Sony page on the blinking lights, they are of no help.

Tks.

I had the same issue.

Unplug power cord and replug

Then like no problem thereafter

Just noticed that they have already removed the firmware download from their support page - guess it really could be a bad update.

Have you contacted Sony Support?

Tks. You are right, the 22 Feb 17 firmware download is gone.:vijayadmin:

I have yesterday via Sony support page asked for an appointment to check my TV. Sony "will contact me shortly to confirm the details of my appointment". I will wait for another day and will call them directly if no one calls me.

cannot tahan so I called Sony just now. The CSO told me to do this:

a. Unplugged the TV powerpoint, wait for 5 minutes, then plug back and on power. Wait for at least half an hour to 2 hour (??). The LED will be blinking during that period.

b. If nothing happens, reboot the TV by pressing the power button and volume down button at the back of the TV at the same time.

c. If still no go, call Sony again.

will update.
===
Just checked (about 20 min later after step a. above) - LED now no more blinking but just solid green light. I waited for about 10 min, switched on the TV, the amber and green blinking light came back. Now I got to do step a. all over again and see how.

Update at 1945 hrs:
After waiting for 2 hours, the LED light changed from green/amber blinking to finally solid amber for a long time. I switch the TV on, green/amber blinking came back.
Did the reboot, problem is, as there is no display, I can't go beyond pressing the volume down and power button. I think there is a initial setup screen that need user input which I couldn't do. So no joy. Will call Sony tomorrow again.

Thanks for updating, hope it works out for u.
Do keep us posted, good luck!

Btw, do you happen to have any other devices connected to the USB ports?
If yes, perhaps worth a shot to remove them.

Tks for sharing. So more or less it's the software update implementation issue. I will speak to Sony CSO on Monday. The hotline is only available from Mon - Fri.

Tks for your suggestion. I had HDMI cable, one optical cable, one USB hub and one USB antenna connected prior to the update. Now removed all, no difference. But if we need to remove all such stuff before update, something is wrong.
