Hi all,

I'm currently looking for a laptop for school usage (engineering student, will probably do some 3d modelling), any recommendations on what model I can get for <1.2k?is there a need for a graphics card or the HD620 will suffice?

So far I have shortlisted these two models

The price of the k401 seems to be more worth it compared to the ux310,i7 and ssd compared to I5 and had, although it's slightly heavier.
Is there any difference between the K series and zenbook series, such as zenbook having a better build quality?

Thanks in advance!

but why dun u buy from school? some offers better specs and warranty support as well.

but for 3D modeling, best get those normal cpu with a discrete gpu.

not saying u series cant do the job just that some time rendering can be quite long.

My school doesn't have any notebook roadshows, although from what I know there will be some leaflets with some discounts given during orientation.

Currently im just exploring the option of buying from IT show to see if there's any good buys available for my budget

I think solidworks is one of the software they are using. For my budget, it seems that most laptops with discrete gfx would be 940mx,it should be able to run some simple 3d models right?

solid works is a single thread software so end up that i7 7500 will be better. and ya more or less still quite ok with simple 3d model.

display is quite different as well, I find the K series display bright and less colorful compared to the zenbook, but that's my view haha

Yeah, saw someone post about it,specs looks good but I have learnt my mistake of not buying a light laptop
