I went for the interview on 20th April but have yet to receive any replies since then!

Hello all English hopefuls. Since next week got last batch of interviews, they probably want to consolidate and consider all applicants before making offers for the limited slots they may have. Hope enough slots for everyone here. All the best.

Does anyone know what number this is from: +65 6866 6999? It's a missed call and I feel like it's from NTU but I don't know why they called on a public holiday...

Hi all, Need some advices.
Rp 75 with MT
1) Nus - offered FASS(Mt related) on 08 Apr
2) Ntu - still yet to reply,1st choice econs
3) Smu - offered Econs (1st Choice) on 7 May with Interview on 29 Apr.

So,
What are the chances of me going into ntu econs? Let say if i get in, any advices on which uni to go? (Ntu econs vs smu econs) Or should i appeal for FASS in NUS?

SMU econs is way more prestigious than NTU econs. SMU has a whole school dedicated to econs while NTU's is only a single course until the school of humans. It is actually not easy to get into SMU econs, my friend with GPA 3.9+ had to go for interview. Comparatively, ntu econs cut off is way lower too. I'd suggest SMU if you are really interested in econs :)

First time hearing this, I never got the impression that SMU econs is "way more prestigious than NTU econs" :s11: And aren't interviews just part of the standard procedure for admission into SMU, not really because of prestige of the courses?

Not really... I've a few friends with GPA above 3.9, didn't have to go through interviews for SMU admission. Just straight for scholarship. NTU econs ranking is quite far behind... 70+ if I'm not wrong. Not saying it's not good, but given with the choice with smu I would go for SMU :) for the record, I was offered ntu econs as well haha!

NTU econs 10th percentile: ABC/C and 3.69
SMU econs 10th percentile: BBC/C and 3.72

Haha. "way lower" my foot. Its almost the same. I've never got the impression that SMU is way better than NTU at Econs either. NUS Econs is also a "single course" under FASS. I don't think anyone thinks that SMU econs is better thann NUS econs.

Opinions needed

Hi guys, is it true that NTU engineering has surpass NUS engineering in terms of overall ranking and will continue to do so? I went for NTU mech high tea party and they said they are better than NUS engineering in ranking and now in top 4. If so, how true does this apply to Mechanical and Electrical respectively while comparing the both uni?

Thanks

Yes I'm aware that top students get direct admission. But what I mean is that SMU is known to assess students "holistically" in their application process, that's why they implement compulsory interviews for majority of their candidates. Nothing to do with the "prestige" of their courses, that's just how they do things. What do you mean by ranking? What is the ranking for? Quality of the course? Quality of research published?...and yeah okay it's your choice, but be careful about misleading others with your words please.
