The chipset of RAM sticks seems more important than the model of the sticks, G.skill has been shown to use the same exact underlying PCB under various models.

From your info, those are probably Hynix sticks too.

Yeap they are Hynix. There are new models coming out soon. Only the 3200mhz and above ram kits with cl14 timing. From the looks of it it should be sammy b die.

For 50% surf net , 30% office work, 20% non hardcore gaming... will Ryzen 1700 waste money and just stick with 1600 ? I won't overclock.

Wrong thread lar lol
Here is Ryzen 5 leh.

With stock Wraith Stealth, don't expect too much. 3.6 should be achievable. Ram wise, stick to XMP profile. 2400mhz. Any higher have to experiment your own ram timing and dram+soc voltage.
Noted on XMP + 2400mhz. I have Cryorig M9a can still push some more? :o :s12:

Ripjaws v 2400 was able to run @ 2800 @ 14 14 14 1t on b350 strix b4. Should be able to have same mileage if not better on tomahawk which i feel slighty friendlier.

Also depends on ur luck with sillicon lottery

We have encountered an R5 1600 that can go to 4.0Ghz easily at 1.35V on Tomahawk. Another R5 1600 we had crashed at anything beyond 3.75Ghz also on Tomahawk

Both on stock Wraith Spire cooler

Agreed on d cpu mileage part sir. Have yet to try 6c chips but out of 1x r3 (1200), 2x r5 (1400 n 1500x) n 1x r7 (1700) none can do 4ghz easily. Benchable yes, on d 1200p n 1700 but nowhere near stable for 24/7 (my standard is p95 stable).

For Ryzen oc i personally think apart from cpu cooling vrm plays a very important role. Budget boards (b350) arent really meant for r7 imo, vrm can get prerty toasty due to no of phase on b350 boards. X370 is safer bet. Some more, memory mileage afe better too on d x370 boards.

Welcome to Ryzen family, does not matter if R7 or R3 used in rig.

Asus b350m-a or another value tier msi x370 gaming plus motherboard, but of cause if you want value then the asus b350m-a
Ram can just get gskill trident Z rgb 3200mhz kit, the ones in sls selling non rgb ones arent that great imho.

to get these from q10, amazon or tradepac (assuming still cheapest)?

also if prefer a x370 mobo by gigabyte or asus or asrock mobo.. out of the 3, which one has the best bios update rate? msi gfx gave me bad experience.. so dont really like msi

If ur lookin at r7 i'd strongly suggest x370. B350 vrm is kinda limited to take d beating from 8c16t chips. Else msi tomahawk is decent for 3200 depends on ram.
