After reading through the threads, I really worry. I'm heading to Vegas & LA beginning of January, gonna countdown in Vegas. I really need advice what to wear. Do I need thermal clothes? What about the clothes @ factory outlets? Would I be expecting only winter clothes? Pls help...

Thermals are required for morning and late afternoon onwards.
Most shops will stock only winter wear.

You'll be fine, but pack for cold weather (down around zero) as well as for warm weather. In Vegas, expect highs in the mid-teens and lows around freezing, but it's very unlikely you'll get any colder than that (and you'll be inside for most of it anyway). Bring a warm jacket of some sort—alternatively a sweatshirt with a couple of layers underneath—and wear jeans or long pants.

LA will be a lot milder; it's not going to get below freezing. More likely you'll have highs around 20 degrees Celsius and lows around 5; you'll probably still want that warm jacket in the mornings, though.

Any driver to recommend for private west coast tour, starting from LA and going towards Nevada area? Approx. 6 people.

Factory outlets stock everything.

Thermals just mean jackets that's not too thick, like hoodies, they are everywhere.

Would self drive be a solution? Cos I'm doing that.

Self drive is recommended. Uber and taxi are very expensive and only meant for cities. Long range buses not really that convenient. If you can drive, most convenient and cheapest option is to just rent a car, it's less than 30-40 dollars a day.

Take a look at the map to understand the distances involved. Driving from LA to Las Vegas is 7 hours and slightly less distance than from Johor to Penang.

If you can even find anyone agreeing to do it it will be >US $500-$800 per day, plus gas and his hotel/meal expenses.

Get a van/SUV seating six people with self driving and you will do it 1/10th of the price.

I'd probably skip Tijuana and San Diego (you're going to be a bit pressed for time otherwise) but otherwise, heck yes, I've absolutely done this and it's amazing. Rent yourself an American muscle car and do an epic road trip.

Driving frm LA to Vegas is 7hrs! Omg. I seriously need to prep myself well. I tot it’s only 4 1/2 hrs.

4h if you leave at 1AM. If you leave any time during daylight on a work day, expect to spend 1.5h before even leave LA.

That's was my personal experience, but doubt anything changed last year.
