Ordered the K3 box from qoo10 with a USB powered antenna which works well in the living room but can't get signal in my parents' room. Is the only way to shift the antenna nearer to the window despite the digital roll out status suppose to be "indoor reception ready"?
Can try sharing the received signal from the active antenna thru existing whole hse tv cabling. May need further amplification due to longer cables n splitters tat have signal losses

When you all put antenna in separate room from the TV, how do you arrange / hide the cables? Won't it b very ugly to run the cables if antenna has to be plugged into TV?

For all the antenna port/point in new or old house. What will happen to those ports? Will they be converted into digital? Or they will be collecting dust after 01-Jan-18?

Anyone knows?

It will be relevant to StarHub users only, as StarHub still provides cable TV and cable broadband services till 2020.

Non-StarHub users will have to get an indoor antenna(and a DVB-T2 STB if TV doesn't support T2) to watch FTA TV then~

Check the bit error rate, and signal strentgth and quality that your tv is receiving. All digital tv allow u to do so. I, too, was having similar problems and found that the bit error was 2000 whenever the picture quality deteriorated while signal strength and quality were both at 100%. It turns out that my router's signal was interfering with my tv's antenna. Solved the problem by getting a new antenna from carousell that was much cheaper than the branded one I got from NTUC.

Distortion only for HD Channel 8 and Suria. Antenna problem?

Hi all, I bought a digital TV antenna from Qoo10 months ago.

Last month, Channel 8 and Suria started getting intermittent distortion along with muted sound, like once every 20 second. The other channels are unaffected.

I have plugged out and plugged in the antenna, and changed its location but its no help. The other channels so far are unaffected.

Is this a TV problem, an antenna problem, or is it external?

Thank you.

first of all go into the tv box or yr digital tv tuner and check the signal quality and signal strength... does it drop to 10~ 30 percent or does it fluctuate ?? if both are at 100 % most of the time likely the antenna signal too strong can cause distortion..

Samsung TV's DVB-T2 tuner not good enough?

Just bought a new Samsung TV, everything else seems to work great but Channel 8 reception using antenna is haywire. Have tried various antennas (Funke 5.1, DIY ones, old loop antenna) and still got bit error rate of 2000 every few seconds even if both signal quality & power at 100%. All other channels are fine at constant 0 BER. It really spoils the mood of getting new TV :(

Since my mum will be main user and she only watches Channel 8, her initial happy reaction has turned sour.... Ever since intro of digital TV she has been complaining why need to change and attitude is like "nobody better mess with my Taiwanese drama watching!" Using standalone STB got no problem (Samsung 4K TV loses to $30 STB!) but my mum can't stand having to manage 2 devices and frequently forgets to power off the STB.

Any other Samsung TV owners have same problem? I switched off router also no effect so if it's an interference problem also dunno what causing it; but interference should also affect all channels right? Is it b'cos Mediacorp broadcasting Channel 8 on that particular frequency? Appreciate any inputs that can shed light on this weird problem, thanks!

Update: Seems there's problem only when bad weather. Yesterday afternoon to evening was heavy raining non-stop for over 4 hours, even after rain stopped reception also bad. This morning everything sunny Channel 8 decided to behave itself, constant 0 BER. Decided to forget about extending antenna to window (was 5m from window) since not much better performance (about +10% for signal quality) in exchange for ugly wiring all across living room. For bad weather, will watch Channel 8 using Toggle. Still think Samsung should improve their TV tuner and Mediacorp to improve Channel 8 broadcasting.

Just bought a new sony TV. Did not have to use any antenna. I just connect the usual coxial cable with the other end hanging freely on the window grill. All HD channels can be received with no issue.

In Bishan area, you can receive the following with excellent picture quality using a basic antenna connected to a digital ready TV:

Channel 5 (HD)
Channel 8 (HD)
Suria (HD)
Vasantham (HD)
Channel NewsAsia (HD)
Channel U
Test Channel (HD)
okto (HD)

Can someone advise how to receive Starhub Sport Arena thru digital antenna ? Thanks.
