Hi just want to share my horrible experience with a PRIVATE INSTRUCTOR Frank** who pick up at Tai Seng MRT/CDC in his silver toyota axio. Feel so heart pain i wasted $ engaging him for lessons. He never gives full 1.5h lesson except for first lesson. Always end early and worse still, he also will drop off ANYWHERE HE LIKE and give lame excuses at the last min that he need to rush off Also he will go toilet even if he comes late and the best is he will still end early every lesson regardless. It is very difficult to understand him cos his pronunciation is so bad (sounds like he has false teeth).

First lesson he will be on best behavior since he wants you to pay $70 enrolment + fees(54 for 1.5h)...subsequent lessons you will see his other side. Always use phone and eat in the car and he doesn't like you to ask him questions regarding driving lesson plan. He gets SO irritated and will say haiya dont ask me. Just do as i say. Like wth? Keeps making you round the same ulu roads and waste lesson time. When I asked him the difference in parking in circuit vs parking in his ulu carpark he will say no need think so much. Then he wil nag and nag and say like this you will confirm come back to me again after TP(Mindvoice: Like hell I will come back to you)

He super ex you must pay 400+ for TP !!!!!!!!!! He think he driving BMW isit?

What a rip-off! You will be better off learning at the school. He say he driving from early morning so tired. Like srsly? who asked you to take more students if you cant cope. He is so old still want to make a fast buck. Though driving school lesson is slightly more ex but at least the tp is wayyy cheaper so even if take on 2nd try not much heart pain. Imagine taking Frank** and paying 800+ for 2nd attempt in case you screw up your 1st attempt :O
Engage at your own risk.
How does he calculate the TP charges? I'm with him right now and haven't got the chance to ask him about it.

You are going with Frankie? He is very good. Im with him currently and my TP is coming soon on the 10th.I think now his schedule is super pack and doesnt accept anymore new students that just call up to enquire. Because every time in the car, he will.every now and then open up his organiser and i saw all the dates and times are fully book.
Hey, how was your TP?

Hi all. I just passed my driving test today (First attempt!). Kena one of the infamous "terrible" testers but I managed to pass with 16 demerit points (all anyhow give one).

Proof pic!

Anyway would sincerely recommend my PDI. Let me share my experience with my fellow HWZers.

I was recommended by a friend to engage Mr Lee Liak Hong to learn Auto driving. He teaches both Auto and Manual but prefers to teach Auto. His car is a chrome toyota and is very clean and well maintained. Now his charges are higher than the average fees from other PDIs but it's DAMN worth it. You pay for the quality. (Read on...)

Basically, he is the down-to-earth kinda instructor who is very patient and attentive in teaching. (Never sleep/doze off on the job) He will not scold or raise voice at you even if you make grave mistakes (+1 as you know how terrible a student will feel if kena F for every mistake).
One particular incident I will never forget was during my initial stages of learning. I made too wide a turn that almost hit the car turning behind. He pulled the steering wheel and didn't say a word. After the car was out of danger, he told me to slowly go to the side of the road and stop. He explained very calmly about my mistake and the dangers, and went through with me what I did wrong and what I should have done. I was really scared but impressed with his teaching methods. The way he teaches is very reassuring and honestly, makes you feel confident in driving.

Every lesson is a relaxed atmosphere. Not those tense, kanchiong type. He will not waste your time asking you do stupid things. Every lesson you sure learn something new and he will correct your mistakes. He is also very flexible and accommodating to your changes (even last minute ones). MOST IMPORTANTLY, he is VERY well mannered!

Before your actual driving test, he will usually schedule a circuit and road lesson on the same day to give you a very thorough "pre-test" course. He will also give you a map of the circuit and tell you to look through it before every circuit lesson.

From his record, most of his students pass on the first if not second try. Many students also jump from school/other instructors to him so his schedule is always packed. So must arrange subsequent lessons in advance.

Summary
Name: Mr Lee Liak Hong (PM me for his contact. I am always active and will respond to all PMs)
Location: Comfort Delgro Driving Centre (Ubi, meet up point at the coffee shop outside the school)
Car: Toyota (Chrome colour think is camry or axio)
Charges: $32 weekdays. $34 weekends & PH
Total sessions: 20+ sessions including minimum of 6 circuits. (Each session can be 1 to 1.5hr)

My total learning fees under him
Registration fee: $50 (standard fee)
25 sessions including 6 circuits: $1,289
Total lesson hours: 36.5hrs
Test vehicle rental fee: $180 (This includes the vehicle insurance)
Total: $1,519

Really appreciate his efforts to helping me pass on the 1st TRY! :)
You can quote me (Roy) if you wish to contact him!

Hi can u pm me the details? Thanks

PDI - Tan Key Chuan - Bukit Batok area

Hello all.. Does anyone have any info about this PDI operating in BB and nearby areas, like teaching style, patience, rates and availability etc? Also if he operates as a standalone or under a driving school.. I'm enquiring for someone.

I could have been taught by this man around 10 years ago (I remember my former instructor's chinese name, and this one sounds the closest to it, but I can not be sure), and he was good then. But I want to be sure its the same guy before I recommend him on. :)
