Redmi Note 5 Pro specs?
WQkRn0e.jpg

- Snapdragon 636
- 5.99" 18:9 display
- Dual Camera
- 3GB+32GB onwards
- Likely to start from RMB1099, but slightly higher possibility for RMB1299 onwards

It's being rumored that the Snapdragon 636 will be exclusive to Xiaomi for three months, other phone makers can only use it from Feb 2018 onwards. This is same for the Snapdragon 660, which was also said that it was exclusive to OPPO for three months.

Redmi Note 5 Pro will likely feature a smaller battery than Redmi Note 4X, which will mean it's lighter than the 4X. This make sense as the 5 Pro is targeted to the offline market.

The regular Redmi Note 5 will come with 4000mAh battery still, and likely featuring a 5.7" 16:9 Full HD display.

seen that they said 636 is like a mini upgrade to 630 but better efficiency and power, but still wonder as compare to 660?

Xiaomi Phones below RMB 1500 will not come with SD660, or else it will cannibalize the sales of Mi Note 3. :o

It's being rumored that there will be two variants of Redmi Note 5, being the standard Redmi Note 5 and enhanced Redmi Note 5 Pro.

Redmi Note 5 will come with a standard 16:9 5.5" display, with dual camera on its rear.
Redmi Note 5 Pro will come with a full screen 18:9 6" display, similar to Mi MIX 2.

Previously Mi Max with SD650 is below rmb 1500 anyway.

taller display/screen, but with same capacity battery, same 14nm finfet CPU, means shorter SoT, compared to Note 4/4x.

maybe lower resolution to compensate?

anyway its a good move, with recent success in the india market. while sd660 is rare & expensive, sd636 is just nice for those bored with sd625.
not bad since it gives 40% extra performance.

battery endurance top spot still goes to lenovo p2 (dying model, no p3),mi max 2, redmi note 4x.

my $$$ on mi max 2, wait till neck long oredi, for the kernel sources & custom roms.

not gonna repeat the wait for note 5

The SD636 can be seen as a lite version of SD660, as it features the same custom Kryo 260 CPU as the SD660 albeit at a lower clock speed(SD660: 2.2GHz, SD636: 1.8GHz).

It make sense for the Redmi Note 5 Pro to come with the SD636, as the SD636 is able to support FHD+ 18:9 display and dual camera. The possibility of SD660 for the Redmi series is very low.

The price of the SD660 is way higher than the SD650 fyi..

Many other maker is already at SD660.
SD660 in fact is cheaper then SD650/652 that was launched some 1 years plus. SD625 is the cheap one.

Anyway, this phone should be announced sometime mid NOV this year.

Very LG G6-like the front panel design. Judging from the dimensions, the 6-inch screen is going to make it quite a bit taller than the Note 4 (158.5mm vs 151mm). My only concern with Redmi phones is software updates in general, yes they may get new versions of MIUI down the road but the Android version underneath is lagging behind (my Redmi Note 3 SE still on Android 6.0 Marshmallow on MIUI 9 Global beta ROM ).

Maybe the Redmi series will probably only get one major Android update, following it will only be security updates or added MIUI features.

juz flash custom rom, so many to choose from

lineageos oreo alpha is out oredi

WTH did xiaomi implement TFT LCDs? its so deprecated

IPS and TFT are two types of lcd.

Thin Film Transistor (TFT)
An advanced version of LCD that uses an active matrix. Active matrix means that each pixel is attached to a transistor and capacitor individually. The advantage of having TFT displays is that they have a high contrast ratio and have low production cost, thus lowering the price of your device. However, they do not have good viewing angles and impressive color reproduction.

In-Plane Switching (IPS)
It is a further improvement on TFT LCDs. The way the crystals are electrically excited on them is different and the orientation of the crystal array is rotated. This orientation change improves viewing angles, contrast ratio and color reproduction. Energy consumption is also reduced compared to TFT LCDs. Because IPS LCDs tend to be better than TFT LCDs, they are also more expensive when put on a smartphone.

Shocking to see TFT LCD in the specs sheet. Am waiting for Note 5. Although I haven seen the real thing but if it's really using TFT, gonna look for other phones. Xiaomi is really going to be f up.

well why not just wait for a little longer for actual release?? i mean all these leaked might not be the actual stuff (which u should know that there are about 50% of most rumors are true and whereas some aren't.)

its not rumors, its TENAA certification

well maybe, just maybe, the Intl version will be IPS LCD, lol. or the dual cam, or Pro version

Indian market, xiaomi want to keep rmn5 at the same price point, as they are successful with rmn4, but came up with this TFT crap

would the ah nehs be fooled?

Would be nice if there's an option to select either Mi User Interface or pure Android version.
