thanks. Its strange I cannot see "Harmony" under my google home > home control devices. It also mentions in the page only supported in US and some countries...

Really can't find.. AFAIK logitech x Google home support only available in the states. IFTTT works well anyway..

it works. im using it now.

it took me few days to find out.

go to ya phone and launch google assistant.

at the top right there is a blue icon. just click that it will bring u to a search screen. this is a search screen for google actiin, its like alexa skill catalogue.

Bear in mind z-wave has regional frequency. Hence if you buy Samsung connect from usa, Z-wave products for our region will not be compatible to it.

That's right. I had to throw away my first Vera bought from Amazon many years back cos of different frequency. Make damn sure every z-wave thing you buy is on Europe frequency cos that's the frequency Sg is running on.

Hi guys,

Just want to share my HA setup. Any suggestions are welcome.

Mine is running on Vera. I installed the system during renovation and had the contractor pull out the neutral wires for the Fibaro modules. I like this setup cos it doesn't limit the lights/ceiling fans that I can use (i'm using track lights from taobao~). I also have a few z-wave power plugs to control my a/v receiver and tv.

I'm a fan of Tasker and it has an AutoVera app that can communicate with my Vera, so for awhile I was experimenting with how I could turn on the lights under certain conditions without any input when I came home. I programmed it to trigger when my phone is connected to my home WIFI, at scheduled timings and connected to cell towers detected from my home. It works nicely when it does but the app isn't consistent so it's a hit or miss thing. Should I replace the idea with a simple door sensor?

I also had a Broadlink IR blaster. It worked with a few devices but it refused to communicate with my Samsung TV. The TV remote was synced with the TV via bluetooth, could it be it's connected via BT and not IR?

I just bought an Amazon Echo hopefully it integrates well with my system.

Actually most of the smart home lighting module with neutral wiring are able to support all sort of lighting.

Smart home from the DIY perspective, i think Logitech Harmony series offer the best performance since it can control devices via IR, RF which cover most of the appliances for the home.

As to achieve a full home automation integrating with home entertainment, i would suggest brands like Control4, Creston etc....

Amazon Echo is a good platform to manage all the various smart devices but there are limitation. Firstly, you can't do any programming on Amazon, alot of logic need to go through the various 3rd party apps like IFTTT, Stringify... So there will always be some lag.... (correct me if i am wrong)....

yes, with its kasa app, u can control the plug via home WIFI network.... simple as that.

no need crestron ba. logitech harmony will do.

neutral wiring, there's a way to do it without having to rewire whole house.
