Hi guys, need feedback on this.

Shortlisted the following for the a new BTO 5rm:

Indoor Unit Wall Mounted
CTKS25 (9K BTU) * 3 units
CTKS50 (18K BTU) for Hall * 1 unit

Outdoor unit
MKS80QVMG * 1 unit

comes with standard package i.e. installation etc

Was quoted by HarveyN $4599.

1. This is the Smile Series 5 Ticks just to be sure? Specs similar to online but not shown on the display unit in store.

2. Is the specs sufficient/suffice? (mid to low usage, will not be powering on all units at 1 point of time)

3. Price good to go? any recommendations otherwise.

Appreciate.

  2. Should be sufficient.
    I'm using 2 x CTKS25, 1 x CTKS35, 1 x CTKS60 + 1 x MKS80QVMG for 5 room resale.
  3. Price is high, even compared to GC online.
I bought mine from Harvest Aire.

Thanks Enzo. Went GC brick and motor store and was quoted 4300 for the exact specs except for hall unit.

They include ctks71, 2 higher tier instead of ctks50. definitely more attractive then HV.

Can I enquire any pros vs cons of getting a higher btu for the hall?
Price wise between ctks50 and 71 is not huge.

Thanks

Do check with GC if it's upgraded material as their online store has additional charges for the upgrade.

Con I can think of is wastage of power due to the cycle?
Guess the experts should be able to better advise.

My LR is about 45SQM and with CTKS60 at 24C full fan, it is comfortably cool.

I guess it's because we are in Singapore, high humidity.
Yes agree that both pipes temperature delta T is low but if you were to insulate together, there would be air gap in between which would cause condensation. Thus both pipes have to be insulated independently. You can try that in places like Japan where RH is low. :)

Air gaps sound like a good argument.
Speaking of which, I do notice in some cases the insulation tube did not have the right inner diameter.

I just installed the new 5 ticks Mitsubishi Electric System 3 in my resale. Upgraded materials (16mm PVC drainage pipe, half inch armaflex, 22g copper pipe), site survey first followed by 2 trip installations. So far so good ...

I set it at 25C auto fan speed auto swing, combined with ceiling fan, quite cold at night.
FCUs and CU are relatively quiet as far as I can tell ... ceiling fan is the noisy one lol

Higher BTU will cool down the area faster, saves energy in the long run.

Im thinking of a budget fan just to circulate fan...

This would be cheap and good, but if you are sensitive to noise this might not be suitable ... I'm ok with it because I like rhythmic soft drone to mask other noise and lull me to sleep :)

Thanks

Pros:
Higher airflow, faster cooling
Higher capacity if just ctks71 is turned on

Cons:
Higher airflow, higher noise level
If all 4 fcus are turned on, only 0.5kW of cooling capacity increment due to CU max cooling capacity
ctks71 is longer and 'thicker' than ctks50 if aesthetic is a concern

If price is close, I would choose the bigger capacity :)

Highly recommended - Cold Engine

Just done my aircon installation last week (Mitsubishi starmex system 4 - 5 ticks) by Cold Engine. Highly recommended this company. From 1st step till end is comfortable, workmanship is pretty nice and price also reasonable. Their installer is responsible even cleaned my house after done the installation and they patiented to taught me how to do setting g for the remote control.

Who looking for good aircon instead can try them

Which one of these 2 have cheaper replacement parts assuming both are out of warranty?

Daikin Smile Series
System 3
Compressor: 1x MKS65QVMG
Indoor unit: 3x CTKS25QVM

Mitsubishi Electric Starmex FN Model
System 3
Compressor: 1x MXY-3G28VA2
Indoor unit: 3x MSXY-FN10VE

Also, which one would you guys pick(and why) since I'm quite undecided on which one to choose... :s22:
